Does using macros really gimp you?

Every MMO I've played I've used mouseover macros to heal. That way I don't have to target specific people I can just highlight their party name plate to heal. It feels a lot more fluid to me.

I was using <mo> <t> <tt> <me> on a lot of my macros but I've noticed occasionally it won't heal my mouseover target but heal me instead. It's like if I use the macro right when my GCD from my last heal is about to be up it will only input the end of the macro or something.

So basically I only use <mo> now and it's flawless. A little annoying I HAVE to highlight their nameplate to heal and just can't have the person targeted but I can deal with it.

My main problem is, since I learned you can't queue skills with macros, will it hurt me badly during raids? I'm curious as to what other peoples opinions are on this. I'd prefer to have the QoL with <mo> macros but if it will make my healing take a dive I will learn to play without them.

For healing the lack of spell queue wont matter. It's actually not noticeable to me at all, and I've healed in raid environments since release. Like you, I also found early on that I had to remove the <me> part of the macro as I was having the same issue as you, but once I did that it's been great. You shouldn't have any issues!

I supoose that queueing does not matter for me practically because my mouseover macro repeats "/ac ActionName <mo>" 13 times (other than "/merror off" at the first line and "/micon ActionName" at the last line). Mouseover macros are more useful for me than original healing actions.
