praise the twelveGreetings,
The development team definitely understands all of the feedback everyone has been posting in regards to the methods for obtaining items to upgrade equipment that can be purchased with Allagan tomestones of law. They're currently in the midst of planning new ways to obtain these items, and while it didn't make it in time for Patch 3.01, they will be working towards implementing it in Patch 3.05.
I have no intention to hunt in Heavensward at all. I was burnt out from hunting in ARR and still getting tired of it until now. that's how bad hunting is.
It's not an entertaining content. why do they keep boring content like this and expanded it? failed experiments shouldn't be continued.
I agree. In my opinion, Day 1 of The Hunt showed how ridiculously shitty the whole system is when it's the path of least resistance in acquiring better gear, and now it's the ONLY path which makes it even WORSE. Although you can get far more daily seals than before, it's still an "interesting" decision they made here, to put it politely.
Then again, with Alexander requiring ilvl 170, it's completely possible that you're not expected to upgrade every item and will just go to Alexander, just like going to Binding Coil in Darklight gear. The problem is that this was the only option for a while, so it feels a little off. This was obviously just filler until Alexander, and perhaps it served its purpose well for that, or perhaps they should have blocked being able to purchase the upgrade items (but still allowed acquiring seals) until Alexander was open. I don't know.
Personally, I'm content just sticking to daily hunt mark bills and upgrading key item slots. Then I'll be ready for Alexander.
Rather than just introduce new ways to obtain items gotten through hunts, why not just work on fixing the way hunts work? The idea of hunts is amazing, but it just doesn't work in this game thanks to the open claim system which puts the idea put into peoples heads that they need to wait on half the server for each mark since half the server can get credit for it. And it causes a ton of unnecessary anger.
Here is my suggestion:
New, less frustrating way to get marks
With every set of monsters, there is a chance to spawn a special (maybe gold colored?) monster which rewards you with an item you can turn in for hunting marks..or maybe you can collect certain items and have an an NPC craft special hunting gear for you. Perhaps there are certain conditions you have to meet to get them to spawn; maybe use a certain item on a regular monster in hopes that he calls that special monster as back up, lay out a track, follow footprints, etc. Then limit the amount of times players can turn in an items form this particular monster, so people aren't farming it all day. And of course, only people within the party get the reward. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but it would be nice for hunts to feel like hunts and not a bit train of stress.
Change the way current rank As work
Rank A hunts are what cause the most frustration since a rank S target dies so slow (rightfully so since they are like mini open world bosses), it isn't hard to get to it on time, and the reward matches the effort put into fighting it. One suggestion is to tie rank B hunts with a daily quest (reduced rewards), add more rank B hunts...maybe just larger and recolored versions of already existing mobs? It doesn't have to be anything too special. Tie rank A with a weekly quest (recommending at least a full party of 8 and rewards no marks outside of the quest), and rank S can stay as it is.
What? You're on Balmung and they die slowly? I'm on Cactuar and they die in under 15 seconds still... 15 seconds, and in that time you have to have a tank spam their enmity or you'll get basically nothing. >_>
S ranks, A ranks... They need the same things. They both die too quickly when the mob goes full force on them.
I don't even bother with anything outside daily bills and B marks and even those I don't do every day since there are better, more fun things to do. Still get upgrade items at a decent enough pace, esp since law gear is going to be retainer gear soon enough I am not stressing over it at all. A and S marks I will maaaaaybe do if I happen to pass one and there is already ppl there ready to down it I will join a pt, but its really not worth the aggravation imo.
Never cared much for the hunt system, just not my cup of tea.
Still really really miss the gear system of XI. I was way more willing to put effort into boring content for gear that would last, its hard to put much effort into upgrading gear when you know its going to become yesterdays news in a few short weeks unless the content is enjoyable, hunts....are not.
Wow...TC, you do know that there's 3 daily mark lists that gets you 110 seals a day total, right? That's 3 days for an armor upgrade, 2 for an accessory, and 4 for a weapon. You're telling me that's not enough? The failure in this one is strong...very strong.
Patch 3.05 notes:
In addition to hunt marks, players can now obtain centurion seals by trading in 12 Atma crystals from FATEs in the new zones. These 12 atmas however must be attuned by completing the World of Darkness. Each clear will get you one point of attunement. A total of 150 points of attunement is needed per crystal. Once these 12 crystals are fully attuned, they can be traded with the hunt bill master for 1 centurion seal. Please look forward to it!
Oh, my lols.

Lols aside...
While I understand what the TC means, the way he started off spouting about "toxicity" did not really get the intended message across. In our server, for one, Hunts work rather well and if you shout "please wait!", most of the time, the hunting parties will wait for you. Hunt linkshell leaders also port from city state to city state to announce the bigger marks (S ranks) and wait 5 to 10 minutes for at least three full parties to arrive. Just because the people in your server are crappy, that doesn't mean that every single server has a crappy community with regards to The Hunts. The major problem that we are encountering at the moment is the channels/instances implemented in some zones; personally I just don't go to A or S ranks called out in instanced zones, not worth my time to rely on RNG to get in the correct channel. The aetherytes are too far away from the entrance of the zones, and let's not talk about Churning Mists...
That said, alternative ways to gain Centurio seals may be suggested. For example, you get bonus seals when you complete a stack of bills? Or some other like it.
I only do the daily Hunt... That's more fun to me and got the hunt feeling.
If more people more reward people sure will wait.
