Thread: [dev1016] 1.20 HQ Item Transition from Existing System

Hello there, long time lurker, first time poster here.

It is clear that in the upcoming patch 1.20 the existing item system will be simplified into a two-pronged NQ-HQ system. However, it is still unclear how SE is going to go about the transitioning. Words surfaced around as if the NQs and +1s are going to be converted into NQs, while +2s and +3s moving into HQs.

Yet it seems SE has not addressed this issue openly. In the upcoming patch 1.19 we could attach materias onto items with a multitude of HQ properties. However, since there is still a possibility of +2s moving into NQ territory, it would be rather tragic to see +2 items gets converted into NQ items with multiple materias attached to.

If someone with reliable information could speak on this matter it would be much appreciated ~

I'm not taking anything for granted, it could be that +1, +2, +3 will continue to exist, and simply be unobtainable whenever they out and out change to the new HQ system. I mean when they phased out +1 and +2 monster drops, nothing was converted into anything, there are still to this day some +1 and +2 animal hides. We don't even know if the new HQ will be equivalent to the 10% or maybe the 15% stat boost from +2 or +3.

But what I do know is that once 1.19 hits, we're going to be unable to allot certain stats. So I suspect that HQing will be a bit harder, at least until the 1.20 patch overhauls the system entirely. That's why I'm scrambling to make as much higher rank +3 gears as I can concievably fit into this brief period of time until 1.19. After all, at least for the near future only crafted gear will accept materia.

There is another issue here.
Certain materials, for example quartz, yields 3 tiers of HQ raw gemstones. How is that going to work once you only have 1 NQ and 1 HQ?
