While I understand the EXP is very low in HS areas, it's no excuse to FATE grind your first lv 60. All the MSQ and Side Quest give great amount of exp. And the Roulette exp, omg I am laughing. Only a matter of time before SE patches N. Than FATEs to cap exp like they did with Traders Leves

What if I told you that leveling does not equal FATE grinding. You have dungeons, levequests, guildhests, clan hunts and if you leveled your first class right, even quests.
Just do 10 fates for the challenge log and be done with it.

Just need to point out that you seriously suggested guildhests as a tool for leveling to 60. As someone who still does a daily guildhest roulette... those things are for good for commendations, and that's about it.

I haven't got past level 54 yet and I am just progressing through the main story so I have only done one of the new dungeons, I do like to do passing FATE's when going along the side quests and main story but the Heavensward FATE's are too long for too little reward.

The question I have here is the new dungeon grinds faster than N-Than FATE's? Considering the really low pop time on the escort quest in N-Than it tends to bridge downtime gaps now so that zone is almost constantly on a FATE and when Gorgichimera or Dark Devices spawn that's a heck load of XP for some few minutes work. I am wondering simply because I plan on getting my WAR and MNK (for my retainers) up to 60 shortly after I finish main story on DRK and would like to do it as efficiently as possible. Another plus of N-Thanalan FATE's is you can level your chocobo!

I find it strange they tried to avoid causing the same problem they had in 2.0 where FATE exp was the best and nobody entered dungeons to level by making the exp from Heavensward FATE's low but it seems have just had the opposite effect by forcing people outside to Northern Thanalan. I had expected things to scale much like they did from 1-50 as before but it seems (Except for the new dungeons as I have no knowledge on that) that EXP rewards have marginally increased in relation to the huge increases in experience to level. In fact I would say they are better off putting EXP onto mobs in the 50 dungeons at this case because atleast people will run them more (Brayflox/WP speed runs!) instead of just sticking in Northern Thanalan then. Finally when you factor in difficulty, new dungeons are likely to be harder and have a lot more newcomers which would slow down the speed at which you can complete compared to the switch off and zerg in easy pre-heavensward FATE's. There needs to be some rebalancing on EXP rewards to create extra incentive for people to spread out across the new zones.

...dungeons start at 51. Leves<dungeons a limited resource needs to give better reward not less. Guildhest is covered in leve. Clan hunt? Lol I'm sorry. I guess you can do that. There is a right way to level? Isn't your entire point there are a lot of options? When they say they fate it's more than likely a second job. More over it's more so to 51 so they can q dungeons. After that dps may fate grind in between qs. Dungeons grind is the efficient way to level in HW if you have access to it once you've been relieved of your quests. Group leves aren't too bad. Not good either though.

After reading about this, I've started using N Thanalan to level my Jobs up for one reason...I only need them at 51 to start doing the HW dungeons, which I plan on using as my primary source of exp for leveling. Some of us DO love dungeons you know.

... Guys... you do realize you dont have to do the FATE from start to finish if its not a boss, right?

HW zones have tons of non-boss FATEs active at almost every moment... you could... dunno, participate in 5 within 3 minutes and earn 50k exp from the lvl 50 FATEs (if they time out fail with gold) by simply HITTING, not even killing (but better kill them), 4 monsters and do side quests to kill time... or join a boss FATE... N Thana rarely has more than 3 active FATEs...

Which side quests? We're talking about a second class here. N. Thanalan always has running Fates and it also has DD + Chimera. Cleared gold Fates in new areas only give 2-3k more xp. You just cannot compete with the zerg party going on in N. Thanalan right now.

Personally, I've taken to doing Daily Hunts for exp. Each Tier 1 hunt set (1-3 mobs) gives equal exp to an NThan FATE with armoury bonus (around 21k exp), Tier 3s give 24-48k depending on the hunt. You can do these as many times a day as you want. Complete a set, go back and restock. The best part is, they all give those precious centurio seals that everyone fights over on A-Rank hunts. Before you know it, you will be full and spending them. They give 4-15 seals depending on tier, per hunt. It's very effective. Other than that, just do daily roulettes as well. You don't have to fate grind anywhere to level past 50.
