I've tried this. It still hasn't fixed my issues. Alas ...

Yeah, sorry for giving false hope. It becomes more and more visible, even on the official geforce forums, that it's an issue tied to very few games, ffxiv being one of them. (Wicher 3 being another)
I have run several benchmarks of other games, and it all works perfectly fine. And there is not even a temporary solution, since driver setbacks, playing on dx9, lowering the core clock of after market cards, and severeal other methods allready mentioned don't net the desired results.
And you can't even reliably reproudce the issue, since a 10 times looped ffxiv dx11 benchmark with a 13,5k score did not result in a single crash. It only occours when you aktually play the game. Yesterday i had only one crash. Then nothing for 6 h strait playing dungeons and normal questing.

Yeah, and I've just been playing Guild Wars 2. Upon playing it for 10 minutes I crashed... I crashed exactly like I did on FFXIV. Black screened and had to forcefully restart my PC. I really, really hope there's a fix for this soon. Argh.

The DX11 client doesn't like overlay programs/monitors. Doesn't boot with fraps on (crashes) nor does it show any on-screen display information via evga precision or such. Other than that, it has worked just fine in my case (MSI 970) I just can't seem to figure out why the game (via system config) shows 59 fps capped with adaptive vsync on, weird stuff.

Huh, so could shadowplay be affecting crashes? I've been getting display driver crashes caused by FFXIV, and only overlay i have is steam's overlay, and i have no idea if shadowplay counts as an overlay. Only other programs i have up is steam (since i have steam version), chrome, hexchat, and occasionally TeamSpeak. Not using any overlays with those programs other than steam

EDIT= Whoops, thought you meant anything showing on-screen information could cause these crashes and instabilities

I'm at my wits end lol. I can't play on my other game now as well (Guild Wars 2) without crashing. This card isn't even a week old - should I get my PC checked out? Just in case it's something else? I feel as though I should do SOMETHING done, as two of the games I play the most aren't playable on my PC. I've got an EVGA GTX 970 SC model, and it just isn't doing its job. Tried so many different drivers - doing a complete uninstall each time. I've also tried different settings, closing down other programs as I play the games in case of any 'overlay' problems. I just got constant BSOD whenever I play. It's so random too - I can play for 4 hours straight, and yet the next day I could crash 30 minutes into my play time.

Look for a process in task manager called GWX.exe. Im fairly confident it has something to do with the crashes atleast on dx 9 i havent tested it on DX11 but its worth a shot you guys. What that .exe is is basically the advertisement for windows 10. Let me know how it goes for you all.

So far i've testet the followind drivers:
    347.88 17.3.2015
    353.30 22.6.2015
    353.38 hotfix driver
None of them worked without crashes. The error code is allways 0x00000116 with BSODs (although I cannot see the BSODs because the screen goes to black). Crashes happen for seemingly no reason. Sometimes it takes hours, sometime seconds.
Today i will be testing the 350.12 13.4.2015 driver. Maybe that one works, at least for now.

I'm also carefully monitoring my evga 980 gtx FTW Ac 2.0 with gpuz. But the Temp never goes over 72°, the core clock is stable. Funny enough my friend has a gtx 970 from gigabyte, and he has no issues at all ._.
