    I need help!!

Hello, my computer has a i7 950 oc-3.2+turbo on plus a xfx 5970 cooloer master 850 watts psu, 6gb ddr3 ram, motherboard Asus 3xtreme, i also play on a ssd drive.I play the game 1920 x 1080 full screen, No aa, drawing quality 8, Shadow highest, background drawing 5, texture quality/filtering max. Now my problem is once i put my drawing to 9 everytime i cast a spell my FPS drop 20-30 only while that spell is being cast, other than that my game runs at full 60 fps. now is there a way to help with this issue cause is kind of wierd, there isnt much graphical difference in the spell casting looks with drawing quality at 9, not enough to make this drastic drop of frames, just for that instant. can any1 give me an idea what could be happening i see peoples spec's and they have way lower spec's than my pc and they running the game at highest setting's.

Off the top of my head the turbo kicking on and off could cause that.
Also clock your CPU/GPU usage on a 2nd screen when its changing (or log it if you only use 1 monitor).

I think AI suite can make a log, if not lots of programs can log cpu, not as many for gpu. (Google)

1st thing to try is turn off your turbo in the BIOS is an annoying feature gaming anyway.
(lots of help on-line for that if not i'll try help out when I'm home this evening.)

You should be able to see the spike in cpu usage. However spell cast effects can cause a slow down, as the video card has to render itty little particles flying around your screen. And it's an i7 processor, not 17.

Exactly as nasomi says your looking for changes that would fit in with the issues, the gpu/cpu spiking or dipping to near max/min and so on.

A simple test would be to log in while recording, cast a spell or 2 wait 30s do it again 2-3 times log out and look at the log for a pattern.
If thier is take a sceen shot showing us and well have a look at what to do next.

Also see if you have Speedstep (power management for the cpu, lots of guides to turning it on/off) enabled, a few people had issues around it and after turning it off had much better performance in games.
(It was what i was thinking off that messes up the cpu not the turbo feature)

ok speedstep is disable, and i understand everything you guys are telling me, what my concern is, Is it normal to see lag spikes when i have proctect/stone wall and see frames drop cuz i get hit or i cast something when the game runs a 60fps at all times, in city i run abt 50 fps when way more detail is going on than just a couple of spells. I'm i making sense or im just nitpicking?

Doesn't happen to me. I can turn up my drawing quality and it will cause a significant load increase but it's universal, not just when casting spells.

Large spikes no, more load yes, it will come down to how stressed your system is do how much extra strain your system shows.
Put the game into windowed mod at a smaller resolution see if it still happens,

If it does boot up MSI along side it and record it via something like fraps and post it.
