Which makes me wonder what Musketeer's job is going to be. The "easy FFXI answer" would be Corsair but from what people are saying Bardcher sounds a lot like that already. There are other gun-related classes from other FF games like FFTA/A2.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Corsair is very luck-based no? A gambler by trade.
Bard is nothing like that.
Aye; bard is about tactically choosing the best benefits from your repertoire and stacking them most advantageously for the situation.
Corsair tempts fate to either give you extreme bonuses on top of your existing ones, or just flat out bust in your face while he makes up for it by getting in there and doing some damage.
If MSK does eventually evolve into a Corsair role, I sure hope there's a different gambling and luck system in place.... otherwise...
Corsketeer brings up the topic of Experience Point Bonuses three times.
The party gains Experience Point Bonus +15%.
Corsketeer brings up the topic of Haste Bonus six times.
Corsketeer busts in your face.
Corsketeer has been ousted from the party.
Corsketeer brings up the topic of Screw You Guys, I'm Going Home one times.
EDIT:
I'm sure you guys are sick of being asked this, but does anyone still have the quote from the JP side of the world that confirmed the job list? I lost it >.> <.< >.>

I'm just going by what people were saying earlier. I guess it all really depends on how Musketeer is on the base level. I mean I'm hoping it's not just another ranged DD. Previous games have featured elemental damage skills prominently, which would differentiate it from Archer considerably.
Nice concept. But there should be a 5th string there now, with it collapse. Bow string from the bow would be fastened down to make the 5th string.

I still think that Yoshi is going to go the route of having each classes split two ways a piece, and we can choose which job path to take Archer -> Ranger or Bard (that bow harp being a tool to train to become a bard).
It just seems silly to me though, that Yoshi is going to release a new class that we have to raise to 50, to become a FF traditional Job.
2nd tier combinations
Gladiator = Warrior or Thief
Marauder = Viking or Warrior
Musketeer = Gun Mage or ???
Shepard = Beast Master or Summoner
Flayer = Beast Master or ???
Fencer = Red Mage or ???
3rd tier combinations
Thief + Warrior = Ninja
Warrior + Black Mage = Dark Knight
I hope we will have to mix and match different class levels to unlock other FF job types. And once in Job types the sill armory system is void. And weapon restrictions are opened to 2-3 weapon types per Job.
For future leveling, the Amory system will have no weight. Everyone is going to stay on their FF jobs. I am pretty sure that the FF Jobs by themselves will still have some solo capabilities.
I hope this is Yoshi's way of phasing out the class system, cause after the 50 cap, why would I go back to level my boring class.
Yoshi, two letters ago, mentioned dual wielding weapons and 2h weapons. I think we have a few surprises in store for us. I'm just not understanding the way this Class Job system is going to play. And everyone on every forum talks their theory like its set in stone and its truth, when we have no idea how its going to work.

I would LOVE a game that only makes you party as your weapons class up to a certain point before allowing you access to the job and then progressing that job upwards with the caps, only going back to start new classes, but I'm sure we'll be back to the grindstone in no time. Go go 5 ranks of class every six months? I forget what idea he had, but I know I missed the idea of a level plateau for endgame.

I still think it's not a harp/lyre. If the bow were straightened then the whole thing turned the other way around, you become a Guitarcher!

1st. No other class in the game has to pay to attack accept Archer. (there dmg should be substantial if for no other reason then this)
2nd. Ranged classes are not always completely safe, mob hate and aggro gains should be consistent with dmg dealt.
3rd. Dungeon content added such as the r25 and r45 raids.. all have other elements that are outside the Safe zone of the boss which are hazard to all classes including Arch such as Ghost's when fighting ogre, Ghost's, Eye's and Multiple Skele spawns when fighting Batraal and in the r25 dungeon bosses extra spawns that pop at the beginning and in the middle of fights.
4th. Arch is not the only class in FFXI to have a ranged advantage while also being extremely useful, some in some cases do more import things then "More dmg vrs other melee" such as CON/thm which heals from safe distance and is more important in a fight then a arch or really any other class being you can still win a dungeon fight with out archers.. it will take longer and probably be hard but it can be done.. you however can not win a dungeon fight with out Mages healing
and lastly , No where has SE said that archer is going to be a bard.. and has said that these Jobs are not advanced jobs.
so my bet is Archer becomes what it should become something along the lines of a Ranger and in all honestly most likely a
Ranger!
the bow in the pictures just looks like a highly stylized bow! just like the PLD sword which looks about as deformed and odd as the bow if not more so.
