While I might not mind it, I'm also fine without for ARR areas. Gives a good reason for the ground mounts still since some of them will probably never be made flyable. Though I do wonder what changes to the zones would be made to accomadate it...

No, I'd rather they use their time coming up with new zones instead of rehashing old stuff.![]()
It would be nice if they could (so I could avoid all those heavy spammers), but it shouldn't be a priority.

The older zones are quite small compared to the new ones, so I dont think its really necessary, BUT I love fying in any game that offers it, soooo I would never say "no"

♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!

I'd like to, but only if they don't have to invest a lot of resources they could otherwise invest in potentially more interesting stuff.

I believe the OP just asked for people's thoughts about it. No one said they know how to do this stuff (except you), and I don't recall anyone demanding it be done. So troll elsewhere...As someone who has actually made 3d models, 3d environments, etc, I can understand 100% when they said the old zones weren't made for flying.
Unless you've worked with 3d software, just accept that you have no idea what you're talking about and simply accept that those who actually DID make the game do.

At the speed flying goes, even the biggest 2.x areas are too small, you'd blast through them in no time at all. I was stunned at how fast I went through Western Highlands when I unlocked flying there, let alone how fast it'd be in the old areas.
My heart says "hell yes" but my brain says "hell no."
I absolutely love the convenience that flying offers us in the new zones, being able to bypass so much pointless garbage to get to our objective and not having to worry about enemies slowing us down is fantastic.
However, if we allow flying in the old zones then it will potentially go down the same path WoW does where being able to fly becomes the expectation rather than the exception and that lead to WoW's incredibly stupid mistake of removing flying early on in their latest xpac which pissed off a lot of people and forced them to to put it back in eventually while arrogantly claiming "we'll put in flying again even though our decision not to put it in was right," which is laughable at best. Players get too used to the convenience and then we want it to stay as is, soon we'll start demanding no aether currents and being able to fly straight out, then it will just go downhill.
I'd rather they keep flying in the HW zones alone and for whatever the next xpac is, make sure the zones are designed in such a way where navigation isn't as annoying as it is in heavensward without a flying mount. The heavensward zones have some really bad layouts and confusing ramps which can be completely bypassed by flying. Going forward I'd rather see more zones with an aetheryte in EVERY quest hub, more porters, and less confusing topography so we aren't wasting time circling around to get on top of a rock. Opening the can of worms for flying mounts might not have been such a good idea in the longterm tbh.

I don't see any real reason not to. It could be done in increments as some groups find time, but there's no real reason to exclude it from the possibilities entirely. The reason flying took so long was because of the very vocal minority who were convinced that even jumping in the game would cause the universe to implode.
Still, there's other seriously broken things (like housing and hunts) that REALLY need to be addressed first.
All this flying has made the youth of Eorzea weak! Flying here, flying there! Why, in my day, we were glad to have a Chocobo to take us where we wanted to go!
And get off my lawn!
