you can move your task bar (the blue menu bar on the monitor) to the left or right of your screen.I just started playing and noticed that SE was kind enough to carry over the crash upon alt+tab "feature" from XI (that this is a problem with a 2010 game makes me laugh.) Windowed mode works fine except it's not windowed full-screen; it's an eyesore and cuts off the bottom part of my UI. This seems like a really simple fix for SE. This wouldn't be so bad if using a script to get rid of the border didn't incur the possibility of being banned.
For a game where I have to constantly have a browser open to look things up, this seems like a pretty obvious oversight. With the "full financial backing" from SE, this seems like a very quick and easy fix. If a community member can manage to write a four line script to solve the problem, then I'm sure SE can do it as well.
i did just that and it solved the hidden UI

I have the taskbar set to auto-hide and even if you click the option, "keep the taskbar on top of other windows" it still doesn't show up while in FFXIV. You have to press the start key.
It is an embarrassing bug though. However, it's honestly not that different if you auto hide the task bar while in windowed.
People should try that if they haven't.
why cant u guys just put the task bar vertical instead of horizontal on the bottom? You can:I have the taskbar set to auto-hide and even if you click the option, "keep the taskbar on top of other windows" it still doesn't show up while in FFXIV. You have to press the start key.

- see the full game screen and
- see all the browsers and windows open >.>
They really have not even fixed that one yet ? how about the one where your game crashes if you alt tab in full mode ?
I actually do that and auto hide it. Then adjust the bar at the top of the client to go high off the screen. Really not much different than full screen.

Windowed Mode

This made me chuckle, as some of you can see my post has been deleted. But not any of my other posts which say the exact same thing. Nor any of my posts from the wide range of other threads of the same topic.
It's funny that they can use a guise such as "... our sole discretion" to remove posts that are actually helpful to the playerbase. No foul language, no accusations, no trolling, and nothing said that would cause the company any harm. I stated facts (known facts by any individual, and details that any computer-inclined individual would know), and they were obliterated in a blaze of over-zealous moderator glory. Kudos SquareEnix, your removal of my post without an actual answer went a long way in regards to solving the blatantly obvious problem. *golf clap*
I had a problem with this at first, but then i worked around things a but and finally found a way to play that works great for me. I'll leave my setup here and maybe it will help someone. Good temporary fix.

i had the same problem when i first started playing, when in window mode the window was too small and didn't fill the whole of the screen. it took some tweeking but i changed my comps font size to small in my display set up though my control panel and changed the video display size in the final fantasy config set up. and now i have a windowed mode that is full screen with no cut off at the side, top or bottom
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
Here is another way to help with this issue:
Disable Windows Snapping
This is what the program ShiftWindow does on a per-program basis. This method will disable for all programs, however.
