    Black screen at launch with Direct X 11, and game saying I need to update on 9.0

    So basically my game just crashed, so I went to try to get back in and it just gave me a black screen and a windows error saying the game stopped working. So I decide to switch to 9.0 and it starts but when I hit start to go to the character selection screen it tells me the game needs to update.

    Anyoine else having this issue?] Going to try to do the reset on the launcher.

    To resolve the DirectX 9 problems you could try downloading the latest redistributables from Microsoft and see if that helps: http://tinyurl.com/pn7u9n9

    I've experienced black screen at launch on games with DX11 and it turned out an overlay software was causing problems. If you're running Fraps or something similar you could try turning those off and see if FFXIV starts up in DX11 again.

    Other than that, could I ask what kind of graphics card you are using and do you know if the drivers are up to date?
