I for one had no issue with various fetch quests or aether flight unlocks

You were playing the wrong way. You are supposed to do only those quests that give you aether current and then do the rest when you can fly. You save HOURS in each zone that way and it is much less frustrating because you can just fly over every obstacle.

Some of them are level locked and others are locked behind several side quests and the last one i unlocked in dravania was locked behind the main story quest that leads out of the zone.

Use that guide to save lot of trouble in the future. You should not do every quest available before you can fly. You will just lose your mind by doing so. Just a few quest here and there and the rest when you can fly.

Again, level locks. Doesn't matter if you know which ones to do. They are still locked away by quest level. If it was JUST the aether currents I'd be less annoyed about it but still annoyed. Aethers tied to quests so they can level lock the flying is dumb.

I have a problem with aether currents because they make you do it in every fucking zone.....Hey look, I unlocked flying, sweet......*progresses to the next zone for leveling* Well look at that, my mount forgot how to fly......

The entire concept of aether flows is dumb and tedious and useless once you unlock all the currents for the zone. I've unlocked two zones, both of which by the time I unlocked flying I was done with the zone and moving onto the next area. Pointless.....

you do realize it's not that your mount forgot how to fly, but that you needed to study the currents so you can fly in that zone safely?

and about being done with the zone, you don't hunt, do treasure maps, fate grind other alts, leves, gathering etc etc?
you don't go to that zone ever again?
that's not even counting all the future heavensward content that are to come. Unless we're done with heavensward and is getting news about a new expansion already?

I'm sorta shocked at how whiny people are about the aether currents....actually no, no I'm not, considering what this fandom is normally like. But still, disappointed. It provides context and a different POV of these enormous new areas that's different before and after you can fly through them. I feel like a lot of the people that hate the aether currents also became enraged at the broom sidequests.

Because honestly they don't bother me. But then again I'm the type of person to talk to the NPCs in a quest that don't "matter" (IE they do not give the next quest objective. TBH some of the funniest stuff is said by the NPCs then, see: Estinien and the moogles)

the moogle quests at the beginning are ok , is when u get flying in that zone when the pain starts...
