I'm taking a guess it has something to do with people having damaged art books but that's just my guess.

Yeah, I suspect the issue is rather the value on the package, and Customs doesn't want to clear it due to be improperly declared, hence the clearance delay (and/or sending it back).
Count me in as another Maritimer with this same issue. I actually buckled down and bought a digital edition just so I could play come Saturday. I spent 5 hours trying to reach customer support only to be told there's nothing they could do, that they couldn't extend my early access for any reason, nor could they just cancel my order and give me a refund. It really burns me to give more money to them after this but MUH DRAGONS.
USPS and Canada Post were also of no help and neither could tell me what was going on or why my package went from Montreal to Miami. USPS' actual response was just "I don't know, call Canada Post," and Canada Post's reply was essentially "Maybe it was a glitch?" with assurances I'd get a phone call if it had been sent back due to customs, but I never received any such phone call.
At this point, because I now have the digital game, I spent $150 for an art book I may never get...

More than a day, no communications from any of the parties invovled in the shipment. Clock's ticking down and the chance this gets resolved in a timely manner are shrinking by the minutes...
same problem too ..was in canada the 18 june ..and then i saw send back to miami the 24 .... and now its back to montreal but as clearance ..but WTH im not gonna be home tomorow when they will pass "IF" they pass. so that mean monday MAYBE ..so i lose my weekend play ???? i pay 200$ can for a code early access but can play till i receive my full code ? WOW
I also want to add that as well as USPS and Canada Post, I contacted both the Square Enix store support through e-mail around noon today (so far, no response) as well as SE technical support (in order to see about getting an extension, which they denied - kind of rudely, might I add.)
yeah that a shame i hope SE doing a early access extend for us because we have no code wicth our CE because canada post and usps can't deliver properly
As far as the postal system goes (USPS and Canada Post), the only answer they're allowed to give is basically "it's in the hands of Customs, and we have no control over it until they choose to release it to us". So I doubt you'll get any sort of useful response on their end either. Possibly if S-E can get their logistics company to try to get in touch with CBSA to resolve the clearance for all these items (since it's almost certainly their screw up on the declaration form that's causing this), but even then it's probably too late now.I also want to add that as well as USPS and Canada Post, I contacted both the Square Enix store support through e-mail around noon today (so far, no response) as well as SE technical support (in order to see about getting an extension, which they denied - kind of rudely, might I add.)
I don't think it was actually in Canada on the 18th; it's probably just a fluke with the way it was scanned. But even then, unless it clears Customs tonight, you won't get it until Monday at the earliest.
