Interesting that your Impulsive did 155. That seems to indicate a +50% quality buff.

I'm starting to wonder if there is a small chance to HQ an appraisal swing. A HQ swing would be equivalent to using DE.

I've noticed it has always done 155 when i have gotten the Discerning Eye Buff from it. Otherwise it will do like 110 or 115 or something and give me no buff

Impulsive procs apply to both the current swing and the next one. That's what you observe here. Big gamble, but very rewarding.

its really not that huge of a gamble for the ephemeral nodes, considering you can mine them like 15-20 times per round.

With 574 perception, I get 500+ always using disc+methx3 then gather. I have gotten 3 dusks, 2 dawns, and 1 landborne at a time on these. Pretty much I just go grab the 4am/pm nodes node right after I finish my culprite grab for that set. I then go back to crafting and do it again in 30 minutes. I used to try getting multiple, but when I got two dawn from a 7/8 rarity I just stuck with grabbing one good one each time.

This is my log of when I had gotten 600+ rarity (8/8) on a radiant fire moraine. I was using HQ level 55 gathering gear at the time (dhalmelskin, with only perception on perception pieces, and gathering on gathering pieces melded; no overmelds) with level 50 accessories (max melded dodore, etc.) and adamantite pick/sledgehammer (non-melded) sitting at around 598 gathering and 595 perception.
So yes, it's possible. Can you get it every time? probably not, it relies heavily on RNG.

Im addicted to Atherial Reductions after i figured out my rotation for Leafbornes. They dont even have a purpose yet but I love when an 8/8 melts down into one of them.

Im up to 20 NQ Leafbornes and 1 HQ

You can get the leaf/land/seaborne aethersands at 7/8, which requires 525 collectability, I assume 8/8 (550+) has a higher chance though, you certainly don't need to get to 600 anyway.

Its kind of sad when its easier to get leaf/landborne then dawnborne tho. It feels like they stealth nerfed the droprate of them a week ago orso. Might just be rng I guess, but ive barely been able to get dawnborne anymore.

7/8 should only rarely drop it. 8/8 most of the time.
