    LOOK CLOSELY.

Those aren't harp strings. Those are ARROWS.

    ARROWS.

You can clearly see arrowheads and fletchings.

    IT IS NOT A HARP.
I looked closely. I understand what you claim to see; but either those are magical extendable arrows that suddenly expand upon being de-tucked, or they are toothpicks, or they are strings.

    No chance, Bro.

has anyone ever noticed that lances shrink and grow depending on whether they are on your back or in your hands

Yeah. Its a locking mechanism that allows you to extend/shorten the length of the pole.

But you see, the thing about archers is that they are fast, simple, and effective. Designing compartmentalized arrow that can be lengthened or shortened sounds cool, but is a conceptual contradiction to what makes Archers so effective.

Additionally, the added weight and awkwardness of having an arrow that has to be extended and presumably locked in "long" position before fired would greatly increase the amount of time it would take an archer to get off a shot.

Sure -- they could be arrows that can be extended, but when you can just wear a quiver on each leg wit 50 regular wooden arrows that you can draw in a millisecond, why hassle yourself with putting a heavy, cumbersome specially designed mechanical arrow on top of your bow?

Not so much a "you're wrong!" rant... I'd really like a reason that would make sense of the idea...
