    How big the difference between the 2 namings may be, I believe it's just that the japanese people mostly don't have a clue about western lore, so they try to simplify it:

    Paladin <-> Knight (geez)
    Dragoon <-> Dragon Knight

    Posting research and game lore is a rant? Noted.
    If that is a rant I wish more people would do it.

    (may as well be part of the lance design above the blade, or some part of his armor/raised leg, but based by the early designs it could be.
    I think you may be right, Used my photo viewer to blow up the picture and all the angle connect in a way that makes a very clearly defined scythe.

    Cleared up the image and "connected the dots" for the less imaginative viewers out there, sorry but it looks like Dark Knight won't be coming just yet.

    Sure. Because the English names came first. You know, just like FF I was actually developed in the US by Abraham Lincoln.

    lulz. My point is still valid. I didn't say they traslated the names from english to japanese. I said they switched them firsthand so the japanese would understand. Except you believe Knights have healing and divine powers (ffI)

    @OMEGA_HACK: It may as well (and most propably) be it, I never rejected the chance of it being a halberd/lance-

    Edit: Someone made an observation about the Archer Job too. Check out the bow. there appears to be strings on it that do not serve any functional purpose...but if you turn that bow upside down, it looks like it could become a lute. Bard Ranger?!
    I think your right about the bow. But instead of turning it upside down it looks like the top part can fold down so it can be played then folded back out to shoot.

    Another researched 'rant'

    Google granted the following info.

    Conjure translations:
    Japanese: 幻術士 = Illusionist
    German: Druide = Druid
    French: Élémentaliste = Elementalist

    Thaumaturge translations:
    Japanese: 呪術士 = Brujo (roughly warlock) witch doctor and shaman also came up.
    German: Thaumaturg = Thaumaturge
    French: Occultiste = Occultist

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/thaumaturge
    Thaumaturge = (Christianity / Ecclesiastical Terms) Rare a performer of miracles; magician

    Conjure Broken down: 幻術 = Literally meaning "Illusionary Techniques"
    THM Broken down: 呪術 = magic, sorcery, incantation

    士 - MEANING: samurai, man, gentleman, scholar

    The 'dark armor' is a definitely a Dragoon. The knee in the air makes it 100% confirmed in my mind. (DRK doesn't pose like that)

    Also, from an Aug Dev interview, the official confirmed job list = Paladin, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Dragoon, Bard.

    That leaves just the Roegadyn (MRD) undefined. It could be Warrior or Berzerker, but the fur trim and horns really remind me of the Beastmaster designs in FFV and FFXI.

    If it is BST, then we have our first pet job~

    THM Broken down: 祝術 = (hiragana しゅうじゅつ, romaji shūjutsu) white magic
    Only that it's 呪術士 (jujutsu-shi) and not 祝術士 (shujutsu-shi).
    So there is not even the smallest trace of white magic in the Japanese concept of "Thaumaturge". Nil. Zero. Nothing.

    TL/DR:LTR(JP).
