    Strongest class/job lore wise?

Thought this would be an interesting topic of discussion. In terms of lore (not in game mechanics) what class or job would you think would win the most 1v1's vs each other?

Some obvious picks would include WHM (They had the power to destroy everything and did, making it a forbidden art) BLM (While they are powerful I feel like they're more of a support group, if you look in the intro cinematic they seem very slow at their casting, something like a NIN could easily take them out before they got any spells off) SMN (They're a good bet because of the whole 1v2 thing, and also recently can channel Bahamut) DRG (This has recently become more plausible due to the whole power of the Dragon thing they got in HS)

    Anyone have any thoughts?

I would probably guess BLM as they are avatars of pure destruction. None of the melees can really cause as widespread destruction as a BLM can. Melee jobs are probably powerful against multiple opponents, but BLM is a weapon of mass destruction. WHM too perhaps, as WHM was known to bring about an umbral era. A Dragoon could probably take out a knight, warrior, archer, rogue, given that they can leap from the skies and are extremely evasive lore-wise with their jumps and their spears can pierce dragon hides.

    As of Heavensward, Summoner definitely.

Finished the quests yesterday and at the end you straight up destroy 4 Ascians at the same time. Low-ranking Ascians, but still that's quite a feat.

WHM and BLM are dangerous in that, through practice of their arts, they are borrowing aether from the planet to cast their spells. Using too much aether bleeds the land dry and leads to calamities. Primals feed off the land's Aether supply as well to exist, and we have to put them down because if the same risk. This is why the use of White and Black magic was deemed forbidden, it destroyed the entire world once.

Yeah, I'd say a BLM is the most powerful due to their sheer destructive power + dealings with the void + near limitless resources via drawing energy from the land

Followed by a WHM; same as a BLM in destruction if they choose to go that route + healing and drawing aether from environment ... potentially people, too if the CNJ questline is to be believed

A regular dragoon seems to be formidable. Very agile, and fighting dragons on a regular basis certainly qualifies as being very strong.

Warriors were the go to mercenaries at the time for their sheer power, but eventually were feared due to it.

A machinist can be formidable depending on their inventions

Everything else seem to be somewhat equal to each other

In essence, every WHM and BLM is a mini-primal, sucking aether from the environment to make their flashy, lag-inducing spells.

Even tough Black Mages are the embodiment of destruction themselves, I would say White mages since they had enough power to create the Calamity that brought Eorzea into the Sixth Umbral era.

It's hard to say something about Summoner, since the game still haven't made clear what are its origins yet and how a full power Summoner should be.

What do you mean they haven't made Summoner's origins clear yet? They're Allagan in origin, brought back by Sharlayan scholars who want to see it flourish again. None too complicated and explained in their storyline.

But on the topic of who's strongest, Summoners. They literally wield the power of Primals, and can now call upon the power of Bahamut and his strongest attack Akh Morn (Deathflare).

I was not talking about from where they come from, but about the original Summoners' power.
About Deathflare: that is something you, the Warrior of Light, can do. We don't know about what the Allagan Summoners used to do and the Summoners' job quests always happen like "wow you concetrated so much that you can do this random new spell now".

Yeah we'd have to see the SMN storyline expanded before they can join the ranks of WHM/BLM, but the quest giver gave some hints that we'll invoke more primals later on down the road. So if SMN becomes a host for any primal of their choosing, then it'll probably be WHM>SMN>BLM
