Sheltron also makes great shields viable
Sheltron also makes great shields viable
Okay My thoughts after switching over from a SCH main in 2.0
Sheltron- Talk about , F tank busters right, a guarented mitigation off GCD with a short recast timer a huge plus to an already nice mitigation arsenal
Goring Blade- Nice potency DoT that makes our DPS somewhat great as the MT in the group, being able to weave in two Royal Authority rotations ....Man man
Divine Veil- This skill takes almost perfect timing , as not being healed makes it a waste and you also have to be within 15 yalms and the caster is being yourself unless my testing is off
Clemency- I've healed for almost 4k on this , I love this skill.... yeah its alot of MP but when else do we need it , unless you're flash spamming or throwing that quick SS in. I've used this more situational especially when there is a WHM and AST combo and that third person needs a direct heal , it works wonders : )
Royal Authority - I know it doesn't build emity .... but it does when combo'd in with savage blade...... the perfect DPS move ....at i171 I've hit for 2k twice before on critical DPS checks...Bismarck Ex.... I couldn't be more happier with this move
Anyone else think another enmity adjustment to Flash/CoS is incoming?
Or has multi-target hate not been a problem?
I've had to adjust my AoE rotation (No more 3 or 4 flashes and I'm good) post 50, but once I did I had no problem holding hate on large groups in the level 60 dungeons vs AoEs.
Thread related, I love the new abilities, sheltron in particular the underwhelming first new move I recived turned out to be my most used and like others have said I hate not having it, especially on AOE threat gain situations.
I'm actually having issues with keeping hate in some of the 60 runs I have been doing, bosses, no problem, packs no problem... however.. specifically having a single hard hitting dps and a glorious aoe destroyer in my group together start to give me problems.
The melee tend to focus a single mob, which no problem just halone, however where the problem starts to come in is when u throw a BLM or SMN in with a heavy hitting melee such as monk or dragoon. (Lesser bard and no not because they don't do damage but they switch target more due to the dot procs) Flash and scorn will keep ur hate from the aoe person, but with the melee right now, hell no if they know what they are doing you have to halone right now, there is no way.
The melee forces me into halone rotations, but the blm/smn is forcing me into flash (and did i say THANK GOD FOR SHELTRON!?) so when you put these two together I feel like im back in 2.0 which w/e fine... but What i dont' like is how close they get up my butt in this combo, one of them is always Right on me, forcing me into Halone > flash > halone > flash > halone flash, which is no good for anyone that knows the sting of losing all your mp again.... THANK GOD FOR sheltron or i feel like this would be boarder lined impossible in any group of dps that know how to dish it right, circles CD is just Way too long right now it feels like, by the time circle of scorn comes around I feel like I'm praying to the twelve and grabbing my undies, that a dps doesn't do one more move.
Anyway that has been my experience, I feel in other situations im so far ahead on hate its rediculous, bosses are easily Halone > goring > royal in a row with no issues. maybe 2 halones to get you started but after that ur fine.
Maybe some of this will change as I gear up post 165
P.S please excuse my grammar, im having a terrible personal day, came to the forums for some relief talking about a job i love.

Sheltron - Was pretty indifferent about it before but after using it a few times i just can't stop using it. If i went back to T13 for fun i'd laugh at Bahamut's Flatten with it. Also it gives a free Flash!
Goring Blade - So far i've been doing Halone combo > Goring combo > Halone combo 2x > Goring again > ... while managing to keep my enmity perfectly. I like it, and it's something different to do.
Divine Veil - I...am not sure how i feel about that one or how to use it efficiently, i guess its just me but i'm not sure about the reach it has or how to calculate that reach. Looking for input on that one~
Clemency - I could see it being handy between phase shift and such. I've yet to try it in a dungeon though.
Royal Authority - No idea yet, i'm just LV58 but based on the information in this topic it should be good.
All in all, i'm glad i need to further enhance my mastery of Paladin though i'm a bit worried for level 60 dungeons, especially with DPS geared in Law. It's obvious i won't be FULL Law as soon as i hit 60 so we'll see how that goes.

Sheltron - probably best ability PLD got with expansion, its pretty bad on fights with magic damage (last boss in Vault anyone?), but well there are not that many
Goring Blade - good dps skill, but with current threat issues I am able to use it only in boss fights or when my dps is performing sub-optimal
Divine Veil - I find this skill being slightly useless, I guess it will find it's use in raids against big aoe hits, but in dungeons it's useless, the shield it gives is weak, it can hardly mitigate half of the damage of common aoe mechanics in new dungeons and with 150s cd it can be used twice per fight at best.
Clemency - second best skill after Sheltron, did dps or healer just eat something they should not have? Is someone taking damage and healer can't heal it? Is healer dead? Was someone just ressed? Are you out of cds? = Clemency, and it works even better with Convalescence. Sad part is it can't be used as much during aoe pulls, because you need mana for flash.
Royal Authority - same issue as Goring Blade
I did some 60 dungeons and had summoner + monk from my FC as dps and since they have better gear than I do (i180 weapons, I have i170) I had to constantly spam flash on big trash pulls, had barely time to get out halon combo to monks target, they were constantly at 80% of my threat. Even considering gear difference, I think PLD could use a minor buff to threat (10%-15% higher perhaps). Otherwise those new combo skills will be rarely used.
Sheltron: Awesome. The MP regen is great and the block is useful.
Goring Blade: DoT WS. No issues there.
Divine Veil: I can't believe they fucked this up. Why can't I trigger it with Clemency? It's still decent if you communicate with the healer, but it would have been SO MUCH BETTER if Clemency could trigger it. Very salty about this one.
Clemency: Finally, a PLD heal spell. I love it to bits but I wish it gave off extra enmity, triggered Divine Veil, and cost alot less MP.
Royal Authority: Very strong, love it.
My only issue with the new skills is how Clemency and Divine Veil don't mesh together. This is such a bummer.
Divine veil, sheltron and the two combos are nice additions but the other two abilities I'm a little mixed about.
I think it's all pretty awesome. I just wish that Divine Veil would do a raid wide shield instead of having to be close to everyone that or just throw out the shield instead of having to wait for a healer to act upon it. Been quite a few times, that even with macros saying it's up, that the healer seems to have problems healing me up right before a large move goes off to get everyone a 1.3-1.5k shield for free.
