I wasn't making an argument. I was telling you what needs to happen so you can get over your phobia of jumping.
Know what else? You also rarely get an MMO these days where jump serves a purpose other than being an animation.
Funny how that works out, huh?
the above should not be taken seriously under any circumstances.
Yes, I agree....I'm really not saying this game needs a jump animation - just pointing out that there's a veritable smorgas board of games which have the feature, and most of the time it's not even needed.
Cheers to the people throughout this deadhorse thread who pointed out very astutely that there is no such thing as a right or wrong way to implement the jump feature, there are only personal preferences. Keep pointing that bit of confusion out wherever you see it, it's a public service well needed.
Also,
Sweeping worst case exaggerations about a jump feature are extremely tired. Please stop dropping them in to make a point. In my opinion they don't help anything and in fact detract from what might have otherwise been a reasonable opinion piece.
"Jimmy you should do your laundry today because if you don't I foresee nobody ever doing laundry again at the site of you not having done your laundry and the world being full of people in dirty clothing 24/7." < if that sounds ridiculous to you, it should.
Oh no, are we really having another Jump Fight Thread ><
Just let them add whatever, its just a animation... It's so insignificant compared to other changes.
you don't have the right to judge which is the right way or wrong way
if people want to jump off the cliff and die, it's their right/their life/their character
Situation Jump is and always has been a terrible idea. Every implementation of it in any Final Fantasy has been a mediocre attempt to give depth to the rapid decline in open world areas. Only a real time press to activate Jump option is by any means viable. The key will be in the Animation, the Hang-time and the stall. If our characters flail around like morons, wow style, it will be the literal end of the Final Fantasy realism style game play. If however, they incorporate a simple animation with a moderate hang-time and a fairly long stall we will have a completely reasonable mechanic that adds far more realism than it detracts.
