Even with DX11 the game still looks like a console port to PC to me. Graphically certain parts it looks something towards Tome Raider rather than the more gorgeous Witcher 3.

But again IDK. Might have been multi cross platform too. I've played the FF15 demo and I feel that the graphics were better than Heavensward.
Different engines (and a 10 year Dev cycle haha) between XIV and XV, also XIV is now 2 years old compared to Witcher 3 thats like a few months old.

Also console (PS3) is probably using OpenGL or something like that not DirectX, dont know about PS4 but I'd assume its the same unless they got DX to run on it.

Screen-space reflections are typically rendered at 50% or 25% resolution for obvious performance reasons. Looks like they opted for 25%.

You can mitigate this by downsampling from a higher resolution, though obviously that will hit your framerate that much harder. I personally play at 3.3k horizontal resolution (can't be arsed to look up the exact numbers right now) at a near-solid 60 FPS, but then, I'm running two GTX 970s, so YMMV.

Do you use a telescope to read the game's UI at that scale?

Higher resolution makes the text much easier to read when it's smaller as well. They could also have a 40" monitor :P

Move around / move the Camera and the Reflection of Animated Objects on the Ground is smooth. If you do not move the Camera or stand still, the Frames are low.

I noticed it in the last huge Zone with all those spinning huge Objects and you can clearly try it out there.

I know reflections can reduce FPS but not by 25/25%. It can increase the number of things to draw by 100% for sure if it's done as a true reflection, but even then the performance hit on a modern card with FFXIV's graphics would not struggle - just look at games like Crysis with reflections and we can run that at 60FPS+ on modern hardware.

Also, years and years ago I used to mod for Star Trek: Elite Force and also Jedi Academy which both could do true reflections (including characters and their weapon effects) - and that was back in the 280 days!

Basically: give us an option to chose the performance hit ourselves because those reflections are ugly!

I noticed this too via making a new character and the water didn't look any different in the opening cutscene that this screenshot was taken.
