I dont think ignoring the issues of DRK is all to helpful. They are a bit underpowered compared to the other tanks. Case and point, warrior does everything better except magic mitigation: which DRK is slightly ahead on. For PLD, DRK does nothing better than PLD except DPS which they are slightly ahead on, and magic mitigation (everything else they are leagues behind). They are by no means useless, the issue is that the other two tanks are just plain better. DRK has to much randomness, not near enough usefulness as a OT due to reliance on parry, and their mitigation is largely based around parry and self healing, which are two very poor forms of tank mitigation.
It's also worth noting that, while DRK does have better magic mitigation than the other jobs, WAR and PLD don't actually have any real weakness in that either.
People need to understand that those that are lamenting the DRK's glaring flaws don't want the class dumbed down. In fact, most of us want the class to be properly complex, to take advantage of the wide breadth of tools it has available in a more dynamic fashion (because when we spend way more than half of any encounter just spamming syphon strike, all that complexity is lost). We don't want DRK to be OP, we want DRK to be actually worth considering taking into endgame content along with PLD and WAR.
Pre-50 DRK didn't feel like it could handle much at all. There were people who could pull it off, but there was a feeling of caution especially in the last 5-6 levels. A lot of this stems from us being very used to the AF gear at 45. Without that gear it was a very rough transition, and was vastly easier to just keep fate grinding until 50.
At 50 DRK is a blast, though it tooka bit of getting used to because of all the fate grinding. The absolute biggest adjustment I find myself making is reminding myself I'm in shield oath without a shield. I've got the big weapon, but no Inner Beast or innate healing buff. Gotta actually make use of a CD or two.
Almost up to the first new dungeon, and I'll be in there a lot because the fiancé demands the gaelicat minion.
I don't think I am to squishy as DRK I have done some big pulls the same as I would do as Paladin and came out none the worse.
You got to use your buffs correctly, in a way where you are constantly mitigating damage and not have to much of a gap till one comes back up.
My biggest problem is remembering to use Scourge :-( Once I hit level 60 I am going to rearrange my skills and hotbars to be optimized.

That "inate healing buff" you're talking about is baked into your defensive stance. Extra hitpoints and extra healing received (Defiance) is functionally identical to damage reduction.
Maybe, only on a slight off chance that once I do event get it to 60 I shall tell you how it performed in the new EX's. But people were complaining about DRK even in low level dungeons and the new ones so far that's just what I'm basing my info off about it not beining squishy.
The problem is DRK need to blow CDs for normal survival.I don't think I am to squishy as DRK I have done some big pulls the same as I would do as Paladin and came out none the worse.

Other tanks need to blow CD for tank busters. DRK is at a great lose at those moments, and those are the times when a good tank is needed most.
Healer main here. It really depends on the DRK. There are some absurdly squishy ones that take all my tools, efforts, and biggest heals to keep vertical. Sadly, right now there's a lot of these.
Then there's also DRKs that feel pretty much as sturdy as PLDs.
As more people learn the job, I'm hoping we'll get less of the ultra squishy kind and more of the sturdy ones.
