Pre-50 DRK didn't feel like it could handle much at all. There were people who could pull it off, but there was a feeling of caution especially in the last 5-6 levels. A lot of this stems from us being very used to the AF gear at 45. Without that gear it was a very rough transition, and was vastly easier to just keep fate grinding until 50.

At 50 DRK is a blast, though it tooka bit of getting used to because of all the fate grinding. The absolute biggest adjustment I find myself making is reminding myself I'm in shield oath without a shield. I've got the big weapon, but no Inner Beast or innate healing buff. Gotta actually make use of a CD or two.

Almost up to the first new dungeon, and I'll be in there a lot because the fiancé demands the gaelicat minion.

That "inate healing buff" you're talking about is baked into your defensive stance. Extra hitpoints and extra healing received (Defiance) is functionally identical to damage reduction.
