    Summoner pets

Am I right in saying that pets don't get any new abilities in Heavenward?
    Disappointed.

While there have been a few minor adjustments to currently existing skills, you are correct.

At some point an argument about this not being a previous Final Fantasy game, or "something something lore" is likely to ensue, but I thought I'd answer your question directly before that happens.

Yeah, I noticed the changes, Ifrit has amazing usability now, but since we're not getting any new pets I was hoping they would 'expand' on the ones we already have as they spoke about.

If you're referring to the live letter where Yoshi-P gave a run down of the changes coming for jobs in Heavensward, he was explaining that it would make summoner a more interesting job if they focused on giving the caster more skills rather than giving us more pets with similar actions. Aside from the upcoming glamour system, there is no indication of new skills or utility outside of the changes we saw with 3.0. Though I will say, it's great to see food (and perhaps even X-Potions) have an effect on pets now.

Yeah, I am thankful for all the little changes they made, I just hope the glamour system comes soon. People wanted Summoner to be 'more about the pets' , with Summoner getting all these new flashy abilities our same old Egi will just fade into the background even more than they did before.

I hope that there will be an advanced job for SMN which will be a complete remake. SMN can summon Primals in true form (but smaller) and ride on it as Yuna in FFX. Each Primal has complete set of skills.

I remember playing smn in ff11. In there our pets were more bad ass but they were also most if not all our dmg. When I ran out of mp, which was often because it cost mp to keep them out and to use abilities, I felt so useless. Tactics for smn in 11 was to smn, do a blood pact, release, spam low lvl cures until the 1 min cd was up, rinse+repeat. In here I feel our pets aren't the devastating monsters were used too in previous FF's but I also feel that my egis aren't all I can offer. If SE decides to give us more pets I think it would be cool if they gave us some kind of ability that lets us fast switch with another egi that doesn't require a large amount of mp and swift cast. Like how blm switches from astral fire to umbral ice. Give us a reason to switch out our pets during a fight. Have garuda for contagion, switch out to ifrit for radiant shield ect. Just blurting ideas while I wait for maintenance to end.

    Xpots indeed effect pets.
