Ground mounts need some serious upgrades!

After playing through some expansion zones and experienced flying, I have realized how terrible the ground mounts are in comparison. While this was to be expected, it almost seems like SE is trying to make them completely obsolete in future. Give it a couple of weeks and you'll see everyone in sky. There are two main issues!

    1. Expansion zones have too many dead-ends for ground mounts. You always have to take long detours to get somewhere. They made these "one way" paths purposely, so people work towards unlocking aether currents. By one way paths, I mean there are many spots where you jump through the height and then there's no way to get back except through a long detour. It wasn't like this in vanilla zones.

So far, this has made questing quite irritating and then once you unlock all aether currents, pretty much all quests are done. I know they probably won't fix these zones, but they should take ground mounts into consideration for future content.

Now onto second issue and this is more important...

    2. Where are the mount speeds?! These new zones are massive and it's one of the reasons why flying is so much better because its mount speed is faster. Ground mounts need an upgrade system at this point. I would highly suggest that they introduce a mount speed upgrade questline similar to Relic weapons. For example, start at 100% and then upgrade in small increments like 110%, 120%, etc and then cap at 150% for now.

These faster speeds should also make older zones more bearable since once you unlock flying, going back to older zones feels.. ugh especially Camp Dragondead.

If you guys agree with this suggestion, vote and keep it bumped for devs to see.

The new maps were designed with flight in mind, so...
also "no new quests"? Um... no
I still have tons of quests on all the maps I've unlocked flying in, not to mention any hunting or FATEs, any gathering, any...thing... really.

If you have tons of quests remaining, then you went out of your way to unlock flying before continuing with quests. Aether currents are located all over the zone, that means they're in spots with higher level mobs that you reach at the *end* of questlines. You could be using a guide or spamming compass instead of focusing on quests.

But through a normal questing method, you discover a zone completely at the end of questlines and that's when you pretty much unlock all aether currents. Quest priority is what I do and I hardly had any quests remaining when I unlocked flying.

Well, I did do that with the Mists and the Sea of Clouds...however with the Forelands and Western Highlands I finished most of the quests near the end, when I got the MSQ aether current. I still have quite a few quests in each area.

Not to mention I love finding the currents so... I like to do that first.

Also you unlock more quests in the zone, like west Coerthas @56 opens up a few new quests in the zone.

there is no way to balance ground mounts, even if they went 1000% faster flying would be better as you can just literally fly over anything, course they are equals in old maps where you can't fly.

Of course flying mounts are going to be better, especially right now when they are the new shiny. There are still times when you need to go to ARR areas though so they will still be used there (unless of course people really like a paticular flying mount), and many current ground-only mounts will be givin flying capabilities as well.

As well, even if you finish all the sidequests in an area and get flying as soon as possible, most of the areas have sidequests that open up later on in the story so you for certianly have NOT done all of them yet by the time you get flying. Atleast if you are getting it as soon as possible.

Each time you unlock flying (via the final story quest of said zone) it unlocks a plethora of new quests in that zone, so to say that pretty much all quests have been done by that point is not true. And also, on top of that, SE is taking full advantage of flying with future updates. Tons of things already require flying, such as the new HW sightseeing log.

your 'concerns' are all intended mechanics... i personally dont understand why you are complaining... it's like complaining about cooking from scratch takes longer than heating up instant food - of course it is!
