without those main scenario dungeons, this game will have nothing in the main storyline but those boring quests that require you to run from one NPC to another NPC and fight some stupid enemies in the purple circle.

I don't even get the complaint o.O
In single player FF games there are also hard fights/dungeons to progress the story. Either you learn it yourself by trial and error or you look up how the fight works if you don't have the time to learn it yourself.
FFXIV is not that different, only that you don't get AI teammates for your battle but actual people. Yes, some are a**holes and bitch about people who do it for the first time, but that's a minority.
What would be the point of a game in which all you ever do is stare at your screen doing nothing? You don't want to learn fights and do things yourself? Go watch a movie or a let's play.
Uh, not sure if anyone noticed, but aren't Castrum and Praetorium basically dungeons tied to the story? I don't think Snowcloak is any harder than Castrum Meridianum, for example.
Dont play MMO's All do dungeons for main story.
Don't want to do dungeons to advance the story? World of Warcraft is that way. -----------> You don't have to step foot into a single dungeon while leveling up in that game.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
*Looks at name of game and company* *Goes back to XIV*
Play with a Free Company. generally as long as you find a nice one people dont mind doing trials/dungeons and having a few wipes.
Only DF people throw a tantrum
The story is very enjoyable to me, however I don't like having to find a group to experience it all. Wish they would implement something like Lotro's Inspired buff, that allowed people to to solo the epic book group quests in that game. Not all of us are interested in end game group content, and only do what we are forced to do to get through the story. A solo option would be nice.
Playing a MMO to not play with others.
What you do for the story is not endgame content though. Those are easy story modes specifically made to be tackled with random people without a lot of knowledge of that encounter.
Actual endgame stuff are extreme modes which drop loot and have a certain level of difficulty. There is no point to this game being an MMO if you are able to solo EVERYTHING :/
Yes, I know, it can get annoying to have to wait for df parties, especially as a DPS
But if you want to play the game like a singleplayer game, you won't farm those dungeons and primals but just go through them once - which sums up to about 15 encounters with others throughout the whole game (until the end of 2.55), and that includes faceroll easy things like Sastasha or Tam-Tara where you don't even have to communicate with others and can treat them as just the same as AI.
Not sure about this, but since the patch you could probably outlevel content by a lot and then enter it solo? I know some people did lower lvl dungeons on SMN solo since the expansion hit. Granted, it's a pretty self-sufficient class, but still.
