Derplander is the Warrior of Darkness. I mean, he also has the Echo, and those gifted by the Echo are immortal. You learn this through the Leviathan update especially. To say that Echo-gifted adventurers, like the Warrior of Light, are Hydealynian Ascians would be pretty spot on. And the Ascians gaining their power through some manner of blessing similar to the Blessing of Light would also not be all that much of a stretch. It would explain why, when we had it before meeting Midgardsormr, the Ascians couldn't breach the Scion HQs. Opposites attract, like repel and all that. So the only real quest here is, did Derplander travel the same path we did after Ishgard? This answer would be far more telling than any other.

You know I'm kinda going with the WoD will take on our character's looks. I'd like to have an 8 on 8 fight against them though it will be sad that my self and the other healer's dark counter part/twin will have to die first.... also wouldn't mind it being a one on one fight too.

Ya the WoD was mentioned in the trailer which is released to the public before the game was released.

Though considering the WoD was confirmed in the Release Trailer, I'm surprised how lacking their role is in 3.0. They hype the existance of the WoD but have them provide little role until 3.X era seems rather a bit too early to be hyping about the WoD. It would have been better if they didn't mentioned the WoD in the Release Trailer and have the Players see the WoD confirmation through the game it self then mentioned the WoD in a 3.X trailer when they would start playing their Roles.

Why do people talk about Derplander like he's an actual character? He isn't. He's simply a visual representation of all player characters. He represents the Warrior of Light in the movies and traliers.

The fact that there happened to be a Warrior on the moon with the Ascian doesn't mean much... especially considering that Derplander changed to DRG, so that wouldn't be him anyway if he even existed.

I think the best theory to come out of this thread is that the Warriors of Darkness are "shadows" of the WoL or are perhaps even from a different dimension.

No one said he was a actual character, but looking at the cutscene at the end...it pretty much looked like Derplander and people would be excited if it was Derplander. People know he represents us but people are just throwing theories around.

Unlike in trailers, Derplander (or someone that resembles him) comes complete with his AF clothes and Relic actually appeared in game.

It would've been easy to just merely show the WoD silhouette or feet, but they specifically used Derplander. We have to keep in mind that there was multiple WoL in 1.0

As well if I'm correct, it was asked in a previous live letter (or maybe just some general question that got answered) wether Derplander was an actual character, and it was said he was having his own adventure and we may meet him. Seems they weren't kidding if thats true.

He became a DRG when he went to Ishgard as the WoL...if this really is the same Derplander as the promotional one, then A.) Its an alternate universe one since our character is the WoL, and B. He also never changed to DRG because he has gone down a wildly different path at some point.
