In an older interview Yoshi said that the "derplander" from trailer is both a real character in game and a representer of us in trailers. He is not exactly the two at the same time. They just used them in the trailers as generic "heroes". Remember there can be more than one WoL's it did in the past so it can be now. Also do not forget that Yoshi likes to play with our minds a bit. As for the shadows the old man saw around us. No we are not the WoD. It is something else. We have to wait and see how thing will fold but for now it is too early to judge the new "ant-heroes". We will never be the WoD for many reasons. And those guys might as well be stray heroes fooled by the Ascians. Or simply they will die later along with Sir Aymeric and the Scions and every Lala. muahahaha

I can't wait for the patch to come out and put the questions to rest. It seems really hard for people to f accept that dreplander is a separate character and the WOD. I wonder why people so many refuse to see it? It's actually pretty creative to give a him his own story since to community is fond of him.

I think Derplander is WOD and not a evil doppleganger. I imagine WOD will be an important character and as such will have some lines with voice acting. They can't record lines for all kinds of race and gender just for one character, it is better to just set derplander and his gang as WOD. The WOD being a silent character won't work, it will be too boring. I think the voice at the end of the trailer that says "so, you are the warrior of light?" is WOD in fact.

They wouldn't need different voices for every race, only the two different genders. One voice for females, and one voice for males. Much like they have to make two sets of dialogue for the main story when the cast refers to you as "He" or "She" depending on your character's gender.

After rewatching the cutscene I'm extremely confident that the warrior of darkness that we'll encounter in the story will be our dopplegangers. Just as the Warrior of Light "Derplander" represents us as Warriors of Light, so does the "Warrior of Darkness" Derplander. Elidibus says "Equilibrium must be restored. It is time for you and yours to join the fray." This suggests that the individual we see on the moon is but one of the many Warriors of Darkness. The individual one could simply represent the dark version of the derplander, and it's very likely that there will be an evil version of all our characters we are likely to encounter. It wouldn't make sense for us to fight the evil derplander when we had never even met the good derplander. I'm confident that we'll be seeing the dark version of ourselves pretty soon.

I hope they use the warriors of light and darkness as two separate factions and that then creates the faction PVP that people want. It would be nice to give people the option to be whatever warrior they want to be .

Never gonna happen. Making the story revolve around PvP elements would make progression that much more of a chore, especially if one never bothered to PvP at all. The story is always going to have us as the good guys.

Warriors of darkness are not "bad guys" or have you never played FF3? You could read the story...
EDIT: The Warriors of light/darkness come when there is an imbalance of one side. Square uses a LOT of balance, ying yang in their stories. Just because they are "darkness" does not make them evil >.>.

Ya square has this whole thing where to much darkness is bad but also to much light is bad.
We as the WoL are upsetting the balance. Time for WoD to knock us back a peg.

Considering how long the Ascians have been steeping the world in darkness, and how 'chaotic' the Allagan Empire was, it's not so much we are upsetting the balance that we are rectifying it, and the Ascians don't want that to happen.
