probably irrelevant know but my theory was that the Ascians used Allagan technology to create a copy of you and then imbue him with Zodiark's power. however

with new information released through the trailer of 3.1 it could indeed be the orginal warrior of light who has some how succumb to the darkness after seeing what the ascians see through Zodiark. as Elidibus told Minfilia, if she saw and became a true user of the echo they would be of 1 mind and there would be no conflict between them.

If they do make the WoD the WoL of 1.0, SE will need to work around the plot for Legacy players and explain how the WoD can be the 1.0 WoL when the Legacy Player is the 1.0 WoL.

The Legacy player is A Warrior of Light from before the calamity, but not the only one, in fact, mentions of the warriors of light always refer to them in the plural, so there wouden't be that much workaround.

I honestly think that the Warrior of Darkness just looked like the Derplander because it was universal ending, and they didn't put in the effort to tailor it to our characters. But I'm pretty confident that the Warrior of Darkness is going to look just like our character, only represent Darkness.

I'd follow this if the Warrior of Darkness was a Dragoon instead of a Warrior. Derplander retired the axe for a spear in the Heavensward opening. I think the Warrior of Darkness is going to be Derplander's "Evil Twin" cause if it's going to be a Warrior then it's only going to truly represent a portion of the community rather than the whole (I leveled marauder only enough to get an ability for cross-class, never bothered taking it to Job level).

From what the Trailer shows, The trailer dudes are the WoD. Cuz is that not the same Midlander and Roe PLD but in Dark Gear?

I slightly remember back in the day before Heavensward came out, someone asked if we would ever meet derplander, which also linked to the question of, if him and his band are representations of us and our story or if he was an entire separate entity. I believe he said something on the lines of derplander being a separate entity, having his own adventures outside from what we are experiencing. Maybe this is what he meant, and derplander's fate resulted in him and his band being the Warriors of Darkness.

Well, that was just the derplander that switched to dragoon to represent his story. If the warrior of darkness was to represent "us" as players, it wouldn't make sense to make our dark version appear as a dragoon as well. Warrior fits much better because it's the basic and original form that best represents us (Since it represents the derplander's original self as well.), suggesting that in our specifically tailored story no decision has been made for us. SE has always been very careful as to not corrupt the immersion of our character's individuality, hence the reason why we have no dialogue or notable behavior. I think that it was SE being lazy in development, and instead of having the ending showcasing the WoD show our characters, simply used a model they thought would best represent everyone.

I think they chose Warrior Hyur because it was the most relatable for all players. (That and I think if it were a dragoon people would mistake it for the Azure Dragoon.)
