Tera is a terrible example. Its like comparing lalafells with Elins, which is exactly what it is. Lalafells can live up to, idk, 200 years or so? Elins live just as long if not longer so its pretty much hinted that every player that picks these races are in the adventurer age range. Like Hodgepodge stated, there's plenty of games with children in them, npcs, enemies or as playable characters, examples: Sonic 2- (oh yeah this counts) Tails was 6 in that game. Witch and the Hundred Knight - The protagonist as a 8 year old brat was brutally assaulted by an evil witch and was being strangled, but it was hinted the little girl killed the witch and became one herself, also killing her own mother turning her into a mouse and eating her for trying to stop her from being evil. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance-you play as 2 12-14year olds exploring the world of Ivalice, monsters war, dungeons, betrayal yadayada, I have more but that's just to prove a point.

Wow, Kojima is one crazy nut (not in a bad way, though). Fair enough though, but I do think there's a difference between sexualizing children (which Tera does extensively) and real world depictions of violence, which I guess is meant to impact you deeply? Not quite sure, I haven't played MGS V, but I do know the reasons GTA V got flack for its violence was due to the mindless nature of it. Running over people for fun and the like, I do think the media coverage was completely bogus and it's all just fun and games though. As for Dragon's Dogma, I wasn't even aware you could romance NPCs, is this a base game thing or an addition to Dark Arisen? it's obviously a joke, but it didn't go unnoticed completely. But it's a relatively unpopular game so it doesn't get as much, if any mainstream media coverage (which is a pro in my book). I don't think that artist should have gotten flak, but rather the company he was working for. I mean, when told to draw something to represent a child killer I'd say he was rather creative and tame in that regard, much better than the alternative of a happy Vault Boy brutally murdering a child, don't you think? But seriously, don't give me that crap. They're quite clearly pandering to that specific audience and it works, Elin's literally saved Tera. Here, I did a quick google of "Elin costumes" and what do I get? An oversexualized preteen like character wearing something very risque (image below, probably NSFW I guess). Obviously some people play Elins because they're cute and people like cute things, but don't go around and say they're comparable to Lalafells. Lalafells resemble potatoes while Elin's are children or preteen in appearance, and some people clearly do play them to sexualize them with these developer given costumes as they sell like crazy for $$$.

You can gift any npc with any item. Keep giving them stuff and they'll develop a pink hearty aura when you approach them. It also changes the game dramatically. The person the dragon kidnaps is the person with the highest affinity towards you. It is in the base game, yes.

As for sexualizing the characters, that all depends on what SE makes available. They could alter the sexy outfits to appear tame (the bunny GS outfit could look less like play boy, more like Easter Bunny). Or they could flat out assign the kids their own 'gender' (programming wise) and simply disallow them access to those items. Honestly, other than maybe 3 outfits, there's nothing in this game that could not be altered slightly to make them look less sexy. They could easily put some sort of 'undershirt/shorts' type of things for the Colosseum gear. Two piece suits can be altered to one. Look at SE's past at handling kid characters. They did so tactfully, for the most part. I just don't see them lacking in common sense and letting these characters get uber sluttified.

Yes rly, I went there. You can't possibly deny the fact that nearly every popular mmo has a race similar to children, but this game says F*** it, little baby geniuses everywhere. Call them potatoes, cabbage patch kids, Dolls or any other figment of your imagination, and you'll only be purposely dodging the fact that they look and sound( voice options ) like children.

Please do tell me where you live that people who degenerative disc disease also are under the height of 120 cm, but also have a clearly underdeveloped body except for the oversexuliazed thighs. DDS causes you to shrink in size, may not be much but its a reference to give an idea of what elins are like to me, ladies that are short.....with thunder thighs (sex sells apparently). I don't play Tera btw, and I'm not defending that race in particular , but calling them children is just awkward. And actually you haven't offended me, but I'm sure I must have offended you from clear misinformation; I don't think you have a pedophilic mind as you seem to believe Lalafells are potato people for some reason (maybe some other mental similarity) haha jk jk . Seems to me you don't really have a reasonable issue with the idea of a child race in XIV other than people might look at it a different way, like any other race in ANY game.

For mmos with childlike races, in which I'm sure you just called people who choose those races pedo's, but there is FFXI with Taru's, Wizardry, Blade and Soul, Dragon Sword and Phantasy Star Online 2 (with its extensive scale options), I believe there was something like that in Perfect World as well but can't remember. It seems more of a cliche now with child-like races, like anime jokes or something, so seeing this in XIV, I just don't see the wrong in it.
