This game is already overdosing on the cute crap (especially for females). I think it's time for something different or no new race at all.
While I would also like to see something more bestial as a playable race, seriously, you're NEVER going to get a beast race to be a player character race. First for lore reasons, second for the sheer amount of armor remodeling that would have to be done (one of the most obvious reasons why every playable race is largely based off the human template), and finally, because it'd be a huge risk that, from what I can tell, is something they are just not willing to attempt (or else the Au Ra would have been designed with less obvious pandering).

All that being said, what seems much more likely to me is that the next race will, in fact, be another cute race like that cute bunny race they showed in the Heavensward concept art. And the reason for this is obvious: It's marketable. Easily marketable. And for SE, so far as I can tell, that is very, very high on their list of priorities when it comes to PC races.

Muscles mean nothing in this game. Or are you forgetting that dainty little Au Ra and Lalafell ladies are able to keep up with burly Highlanders and Roegadyn in melee combat?
