If this thread has taught me anything, it's that there are some very scary people with questionable ethics here. What could have been a light-hearted post about an adorable inclusion in Heavensward has degraded into a petty squabble trying to justify the unjustifiable. It's disgusting, it's vulgar and it has no place on a public forum.

If you really want to know why game developers are so frightened to add things like this into games, look no further than yourselves. Even when it's clearly benign, some people find a way to twist and contort it into an unspeakable horror. I hope this entire thread gets deleted.

For the great majority of the human race, there's a strong biological urge to protect children, and this particular crime is one which by its very definition targets children. Because of this, extremism and overreactions are commonplace - particularly on the Internet, where trolls are plentiful and Poe's Law is commonplace.

The implications that folks who enjoy their animu waifus are just waiting for their chance to leap on a real-life child are frankly nonsense. If you were to present such people with a real example of child rape, the vast majority would be as sickened as anyone else would (and the minority who aren't would be no larger a percentage than any other group). There are plenty of folks who are perfectly at ease sitting through a Saw movie who would lose their lunch if they were to see any of that happen to a real person. Enjoying the fantasy does NOT equate to enjoying the reality. It doesn't even indicate a tendency.

Even if we are willing to categorize such people as actual paedophiles though, how are they actually harming anyone? No children are harmed in the production of loli and shota erotica. Until such an individual actually begins performing criminal acts against real children, there's nothing to worry about. Some might claim that the existence of these kinds of materials "encourages" people to go out and try the real thing - but this is the same kind of hysterical nonsense that got Jack Thompson rightfully laughed off the bar during his crusade against "murder simulator" video games.

why do you think things like loli doujins or animated videos can continue to be made and sold at conventions/stores?(Comiket) because there is no direct correlation to someone liking loli in print to harming a child in real life.(bolded those two words to make a disconnect between them, on in virtual, the other in reality) i myself dont care much for playing or having kids as something that is playable, but trying to say that someones use of a word is worrying and a sign is pretty out there. what they want is an option, and you are using an opinion to say that asking for that option is wrong.

edit-2; saw the cat in game, and i found one problem. either her head is too small, or lala heads are fricking huge. seeing as lalas can never be wrong, i am inclined to think that cat head is too small.
