As someone who has never played WoW and needed to google what a Vulpera is, the Vulpera just look like tiny furries to me. :B
They even have muscle definition through their fur somehow....

i think something that really hampers this sort of conversation is that some people have extremely specific traits in mind for "childlike" while others just see anything shorter than average and see it as childlike

Well I mean wow is a usa company and its getting vulpuren basicly fox children so theres that the most senstive country seems cool with the idea lol

They're not children. They're just a short race. Like Goblins, Dwarves, and Gnomes.

FFXIV would benefit from having a shorter beast race. Burmecians and Ivalice Moogles come to mind. It was rather disappointing when Montblanc was introduced as an Eorzean moogle instead of how he looked in the Ivalice games.

My point wasnt for children it was more for having short race options outside of lalafell as in having a short beast race like the Nu people or fairys or even goblins that could fill the fantasy. I was making the point because admitly I'm extremely immature lol and lean towards short races in games only reason I'm not a lala is no tail/animal traits.

Animals can have muscle definition if they're both muscular and have short enough fur.
