And so do I. And yes, we need more beast-looking races. Everything is so cute, this is all rainbows and floating hearts. I wouldn't play them but I know plenty of people that would. There you would have more variety, everything is human looking now. Even if the difference is noticeable, specially with the latest race, (an odd-designed Au Ra), they're still human looking.

Meh, I could not reply anymore yesterday because of posts limit. I see that the dumb arguing has died down anyway, so it's fine.

I would like to reiterate the fact that my question in the opening post was sarcastic. I personally see no reason why a child miqo'te should be playable. I just find them incredibly cute and I went all warm and fuzzy inside, hence the "OMG I NEED THIS NAO" post.

Rationally speaking, I am happy with my Au Ra. :P

You guys really need to give up on the not-so-human-looking playable races. They (as in the Japanese playerbase AND the developers) just don't care for it, for whatever reason. Plus the devs have already said that they're shooting for what would be popular instead of what would be unique (yes, really, they stated this outright). So, sorry, but your dreams have been crushed.

No, Lyn are definitely waaaay different from Elin.

For one, the character creation doesn't suck ass, so you can make an older-looking Lyn (including elderly Lyn with wrinkles and facial hair and everything) pretty easily. This also means that they don't have those ridiculous Elin body proportions forced on them (though they ARE capable of mimicking their proportions thanks to the body sliders).

Secondly, as mentioned, Lyn have both male and female, and the two look pretty much identical outside of hairstyles and facial hair options. Which means, of course, that the Lyn are not just the 'cute' race, but also the 'androgynous' race (even moreso than Lalafell). It's very easy to genderbend with them if you're so inclined.

Thirdly, and most importantly, they're not anywhere NEAR as sexualized as the Elin are. Whereas Elin only ever wear sexualized outfits with a few token exceptions, Lyn are the exact opposite. The play up the cute angle considerably more often. That's not to say that some 'sexy' outfits don't exist, but they're the exception, and you have to go out of your way to find them. Kind like you do now with Lalafell, heh.

Sorry if I sound harsh. It's just that I was hoping for exactly that with Au Ra and the disappointment from their reveal still stings to this day, so people bringing it up over and over again only makes the pain worse.

It's not happening and I will forever be disappointed at SE for taking that stance. So instead, I put my energy towards something that seems much more likely to actually happen given their tastes...

That's possibly only because you saw the censored versions. The original versions had them in a nightgown and panties for a huge number of their cloth outfits, and a lot of plate outfits had a short skirt for even more panty shots. Only their leather outfits were anywhere near consistently covering.

Only a few of the outfits were straight up skimpy, for elin. A lot of the mage, and cash shop clothes had short or micro skirts (so yeah, abundance of panty shots...), and there were some outfits that had straight up thongs for pants, but the majority of their outfits had shorts, or leggings. I thought a lot of the tank outfits especially were really cute, even if they were impractical. I also loved the snow hoodie cash shop outfit.

But yeah, Elin were uncomfortably oversexualized. The Lyn look like they're going way more for the cute angle, which I appreciate!

I don't understand how people think there are "too many" cute races in XIV. There's literally one race that seems like it's exclusively designed to be cute, and 3 female options that seem like they're designed to be mostly cute. On the other hand we have 5 races (not including highlanders, which they're kind of a race on their own, so 6 races?) where the men are designed to be "cool" or "scary", and 3 where the female seem designed to be "cool" or "scary". Obviously you can create some cute characters in that spectrum, like you can also create some cool characters in the "cute character" spectrum, but I'd say the "cool" races outweigh the "cute" at this point.

That said, I absolutely want a beast race that has options for both cute, and cool builds. I'd love to be a little mouse/moogle type character, and it would be cool to see some bigger "beastmen" type pcs.
