Do I understand right - Jobs

As a new player need clarity/help on a couple of questions please.

    Jobs

I'm on the journey to become a white mage. At 30, I have to switch to level a THM to 15 and leveling is without my conjurer skills or equipment gained so far and in essence start over. So I really have to level 45 levels before becoming a white mage?

If I want to multi-class and try something else like a bard, I have to level an archer for 30, then switch to Pugilist for 15 levels to then do a quest to become a bard?

So I have to essentially re-start my character 4 times; level twice to level 30, and twice to level 15 to have a level 30 white mage, and a level 30 bard?

    Second question: Mounts
I have completed my class quest up to the point I need to gather 2000 of my company's currency to be able to buy my ability to unlock a mount. I've bought the collectors edition that gave me a mount. How long does it take to gain the 2000 seals?

Thank you kindly for your help!

    First question
Correct. You can also get some useful cross-class skills from the jobs that you are levelling, so it's kinda a benefit I guess.
Oh and it's recommended that you level your THM to 26 as you'll get the super useful cross-class skill for all of your Mage classes "Swiftcast".

It shouldn't be long to get 2000 seals. Doing FATEs will get you seals, and also doing Grand Company levequests is the source of seals for low levels. Keep in mind though, there's a limit on how many levequests that you can do a day, 6 a day if I'm not mistaken, but you can stack it til 100 if you don't do any levequests at all before.

    Good luck!

Your Grand Company hunt log is also a great source of seals, and your class hunt logs are good for exp. If you haven't already, I also suggest picking up the weekly challenge log from I'tolwann at the Drowning Wench in Limsa Lomisa. This gives you weekly challenges that give you gil and bonus exp.

To become a Whitemage you actually need to level up Arcanist to level 15, not Thaumaturge If you have leveled up Thaumaturge a bit already, not all is lost. Because White Mage can also access Thaumaturge spells. It's level 26 spell Swiftcast is actually pretty much a must have spell

I've earned the 2000 seals in about 2 hours or so. Maybe even less. By joining all the fates in an area while doing some leve quests from a Grand Company guy in an area. Shouldn't take you very long to be able to ride your mounts

    Whm needs ACN not THM.

Anyway, below lvl 50, all classes you level get a 100% exp bonus if you have a higher level class. Above lvl 50, the bonus is 50%.

Just do leves to level and any fate that you run across. It won't take long to get to lvl 15.

All jobs require a secondary class leveled to at least 15. It's not a waste, though, as there are cross class skills to be gained that can enhance your main job greatly. As a class you can use cross skills from many other classes, a job, however, can use skills from only two. In the case of WHM this is arcanist and thaumaturge iirc. It is not strictly necessary, but (as the others have noted) greatly recommended to level THM to gain access to Swiftcast, which is an ability that completely removes the cast time of your next spell, making it instant. It's very useful if you need to raise anyone.

And 15 levels really doesn't take long at all, especially since it'll be your second class and you should be getting an experience bonus because it's lower than your highest.

Others have covered the requirements pretty well...

I'll mention that there's another benefit to ACN. Take it far enough and you'll get a crossclass ability called Eye for an Eye, often abbreviated as E4E. It's not nearly so essential as Swiftcast, and it's entirely unnecessary in the early levels, but nonetheless...

It's a very powerful mitigation tool if the tank overpulls or some such, and for raids generally (if you have any interest/plans towards raiding).

    Welcome and good luck!
