I just sold monster drops and most of the HQ gear from quests and made over 3mil. I also sold some Highland Bardings before others started crafting them and netted a quick mil from that (the prices went from 900k to 300k overnight).

3x Thav Silk when they were 5m each. Pretty good. Down to 3m now and got another one but im keeping it for crafting~
Also collections, 1250 gil per turn in, x200 in a day (marron glace) was an easy 250k.

Do your roulettes, and challenge log. And before you complain about not having it unlocked please go unlock other content. You shouldn't have 2.0 sidequests sitting around period if you're at 60 (sans crafting and gathering ones) especially since it tends to bite you in the butt later on, through either a gated quest or where you're sitting at now trying to figure out how to make gil.

Give or take 200-230m from playing the markets, crafting, gathering, and gardening.
Down 50mil
Before completing any quest that rewards Materia, go check the Market Board. Easiest way to make a few million while leveling. The craftsman Materia usually sell for 100k to 250k based on which one it is. The gathering Materia are between 40k and 80k. These are the prices for the Tier IV. Tier II and III for crafting is usually pretty absurd for the level (20-50k).
So, roughly 1 million from quest rewards and leveling to 60. About 1-2 million from selling Materia quest rewards or converting gear into Materia to sell after leveling. Not bad for new players.
Quest smart, materia mart.

I made around 40 million selling lvl 50 HW-exclusive vendor weapons and accessories to players who were stuck at 50 due to not yet having the expansion for the first few weeks of it. Literally every one of my retainers' market board slots were filled with such items. I was one of two people on my world that did this at first. Now, as expected, the markets for these items are largely flooded.
I also made a good amount selling gathered HQ materials early on. My first 60 was Miner, and my second was Botanist, and my third was Fisher - all hitting 60 on the same day. I leveled them first to take full advantage of the lack of supply of these items. Of course, I leveled my main DoW alongside them, too, but I focused on Miner/Botanist (and blew through fishing for the hell of it).
I largely stayed out of the crafting markets until recently. I can make a solid amount per day if I feel like spending an hour crafting, but, atm, I much prefer farming and selling the more scarce materials.

same as in 2.0, spirit bond gathering gear while i mine. Sell HQ Ores, Craft NQ into HQ ingots/nuggets and/or Daily GC turn items with my GSM. ensure all my Retainers are 20/20 with HQ raid food before reset and during popular raid night ( tue-thur on my server). i usually make 5m-10m/week with minimal time spent gathering n crafting.
anyone have issues with certain crafters who like to go in and flood market with items that usually sell instantly and then proceeds to price said items 50% less then what they sell for? i have 1 certain crafter who likes to do this constantly... in 2.0 i dealt with a GSM crafter who did this and everytime they would, i would retaliate by flooding market with the items he was selling by selling HQ at NQ prices until he caught on and stopped doing that lol.. childish i know,, but now we both make money![]()

So I'm pretty new to the game. My iLevel is only around 100. I'm level 51.
I'm not a big fan of crafting, but I do not mind mining, fishing, etc (gathering materials). I could take up crafting if needed. I also do not mind grinding.
It is apparent that I will need to pick up some profession to make money in FFXIV. What would be your suggestions for a rookie like myself? I don't need to make billions, but the weapons I want are a few million at least, so I'd like to start saving up for those as soon as possible.
Thank you!
