Most likely. Either that, or the plot arc will revolve around us RISKING becoming WoD, but end up being saved by the power of love and remain loyal to Hydaelyn.Yeah getting huge FF3 vibes from the story now oh and the Archbishop at the end was just wondering WTH are you the whole blackness thing was either his fear or viewing you as a force for darkness. I personally do view the bishop as a force of light as well. Oh I am calling it NOW at the end of heavensward we are going to become a warrior of darkness. Since they have now introduced this whole equilibrium notion now.
Except our FF3 throwback story ended by completely ignoring the cautionary note that it was the Tower's overflowing light that started the downfall of Allag, deciding instead that light is always good and should absolutely be made to drown out the darkness, no matter the sacrifice. A bunch of the Azys Lla side-quests drop really ironic echoes of the message at the end of CT, though, so it may be that they fully intend to do a 180 on that plotline later.
Don't get me wrong, I know where you're coming from, but this game's writers have only ever been good at teasing that level of complexity.
You know what would be fun? If the warrior of darkness would really be derplander. He is supposed to be a stand in for the protagonist, but if you look closely, he never does anything in the cinematics that prove he isn't just some random adventurer. He was there at carteneu and was teleported to the future by Louisouix. He was in Ul'dah when the crysis broke out, but he was runnin alone in an area where we still had the Scions with us. When Nanamo drinks from her chalice we don't see who is sitting with her at the table.
He later crosses into Ishgard and gets attacked by what looks like Hraesvelgr on the bridge. Where he lives looks more like an inn room than Fortemps Manor. Cid flies him to the Dravanian Forelands, which never happened to the player. He also defends Ishgard from an attack while inside Ishgard.
His story most likely ran concurrently with the player's. Of course he doesn't have Hydaelin's blessing, and he fought and bled for nothing as the WoL killing Niddhog's consort made all the difference instead of his efforts. This could be enough to push him into the open arms of Elidibus.
I'm not sure I'd consider the Archbishop a force of Light; he may *think* he is, but he and his knights listened to the Ascians and became Primals...something that doesn't really follow the Light (by a similar stance, Iceheart can't be fully considered a force of Light either, despite actually having the Echo).
Just because you think you are something, doesn't mean you are.
I can't say for sure he was Dark either; he was against the Ascians and at least tried to kill Lahabrea (I don't think he's really dead just yet). Misguided, yes; he wanted to protect his people though in a twisted way.
That line can still be interpreted to fit my theory. The Archbishop was expecting you to be the WoL, as everyone called you such.
But what does he see in you? Complete darkness. It's logical that he asks what the hell are you, since you are clearly not very luminous. "Who are you..?" indeed. Clearly he does not see you as the WoL, otherwise his question would be incredibly dumb.
Considering that the end of this story arc clearly involves Warriors of Darkness, I find it peculiar that our hero is depicted like that, just before Edilibus makes his statement. Looks too much of a coincidence, to me.
Well, you would not define the Emperor of Light from FF2 as a Force of Light either, but point is, he technically was. Light and Dark, in eastern cultures, are often neutral.I'm not sure I'd consider the Archbishop a force of Light; he may *think* he is, but he and his knights listened to the Ascians and became Primals...something that doesn't really follow the Light (by a similar stance, Iceheart can't be fully considered a force of Light either, despite actually having the Echo).

Of course I might be reading TOO MUCH into it, as Light is generally good in FF games and especially in FFXIV - what I say is, they might still pull off something along these lines.
I, for one, would welcome the novelty. It would be great if you could at least play the role of "anti-hero", in an MMO.
I dont follow you. Are you agreeing with me, then?Yes the archobihsop knew that you were the warrior of light, but he thought that even him wouldnt match the power of thousands prayers, the ascian, and the eye combined.
He was wrong, the power of the WoD was behind all recorgition. Thats why he asked that, beacuse he couldnt beliebe that the WoD would have such tremendous power.
We are already the WoD?
Also, I find it no coincidence that the raid of this content update is Alexander...often depicted dealing Holy damage in the FF series.

I can totally see a fall/redemption line going.Yeah getting huge FF3 vibes from the story now oh and the Archbishop at the end was just wondering WTH are you the whole blackness thing was either his fear or viewing you as a force for darkness.
