That dark the Archobishop saw is kinda a representation of fear, he was like terrified on the WoL beacuse of the enormus power he was. Remember the last thing he said "what .. who are you?"

That line can still be interpreted to fit my theory. The Archbishop was expecting you to be the WoL, as everyone called you such.
But what does he see in you? Complete darkness. It's logical that he asks what the hell are you, since you are clearly not very luminous. "Who are you..?" indeed. Clearly he does not see you as the WoL, otherwise his question would be incredibly dumb.

Considering that the end of this story arc clearly involves Warriors of Darkness, I find it peculiar that our hero is depicted like that, just before Edilibus makes his statement. Looks too much of a coincidence, to me.

I'm not sure I'd consider the Archbishop a force of Light; he may *think* he is, but he and his knights listened to the Ascians and became Primals...something that doesn't really follow the Light (by a similar stance, Iceheart can't be fully considered a force of Light either, despite actually having the Echo).

I can't say for sure he was Dark either; he was against the Ascians and at least tried to kill Lahabrea (I don't think he's really dead just yet). Misguided, yes; he wanted to protect his people though in a twisted way.

Well, you would not define the Emperor of Light from FF2 as a Force of Light either, but point is, he technically was. Light and Dark, in eastern cultures, are often neutral.

Of course I might be reading TOO MUCH into it, as Light is generally good in FF games and especially in FFXIV - what I say is, they might still pull off something along these lines.

I, for one, would welcome the novelty. It would be great if you could at least play the role of "anti-hero", in an MMO.

Also, I find it no coincidence that the raid of this content update is Alexander...often depicted dealing Holy damage in the FF series.

Didn't Elidibus say that the female ascian and Lahabrea had 'fallen'. Shes definitely dead thanks to the white crystal, and it certainly looked like Lahabrea was absorbed by the sword.

He probably is. if he wasn't killed by the massive consumption of aether Thodran used, he was probably consumed when Nidhogg took Estinien as a vessel or his own will was overpowered by the dreadwyrm.

I can't help but wonder if, perhaps, the reason no one can remember the Warriors of Light from Cartenau might be a result of those individuals having become the Warriors of Darkness. If that's the case, maybe we'll even see the others from the trailers and cinematics. That, or perhaps the Warrior of Darkness is a Primal version of the Warrior of Light from Cartenau. People became so desperate that they were tricked into trying to bring back the Warriors of Light and ultimately created primals instead. Sounds like the Ascian MO.

Nah, that's just a way the devs found so that they don't have to make legacy versions of all dialogues.

Something I have yet to see people bring up is the Absense of Derplander's comrads in HW Cinamatic.

1.0 Cinamatic is all about Derplander discovering this party of people through his echo and then experience a calamity. In 2.0 Derplander filled with drive, goes out to rediscover the friends he saw through his echo. Successfully doing so, he now faces a brand new Calamaty side by sides with his comrads.

However 3.0 its just Derplander by himself. Discovering Ishland alone, and abandoning who he previously was, to wear the skin of a new job.

It struck me as incredibly odd that this half a decade long Cinamatic story of Derplander and his Comrads would of been discarded. But what if their disapearance is part of the story ? What if in 3.1, 3.2, ect you discover these people in game (assuming they arent dead/killed) and it opens up some backstory on Derplander. Its a interesting thought.

Problem is that canon wise the WoL goes to Ishgard alone with Tataru and Alphinaud only (they were guest of the Fortess house after all, but the house cant invite a legion of ppl). He/she doesnt bring anyone else to reinforce the idea of being scattered and alone after the Uldah mess
