So she got a sex change?

That "stargate" is actually a pretty common piece of Garlean architecture / machinery. There's one at Cape Westwind, for example, presumably to get into Castrum Marinum. I assume it's a more limited, short-range teleporter.

it is. garleans had a few smaller-scale ones at the praetorium. the ones at sea-based castrums like the one in Azys Lia and cape westwind are actually the larger scale ones, generally used for transportation of multiple soldiers and supplies in short order.

It would be interesting if the WoD actually had a different face for every player character...like taking someone on the player's friendlist.
Much like how we are all in our own stories the interpretation of the warrior of light, the warrior of darkness could have its own faces, its own multitudes of identities.
And where he is certain of who he is, and his purpose. We cannot convincingly answer that for ourselves(rather, there is no one answer that will fit every player).

Well, I think it is more of a foreshadowing thing. Like starting the whole game into a more PvP oriented gameplay.
"The time has come for you and 'yours' to join the fray, Warrior of Darkness." Sounds to me like there will be several of them, all striving to battle the Warrior of Light. A bit like a two Faction System in the next expansion, where you have the light guys fighting the darkness guys. Of course both are doing the "just" or "right" thing. If it does hint at a new playable faction (mind you with most likely the same races and classes) it would make sense to take the most generic representative for one of the Warriors.
Going with usual Fantasy philosophy, total light would mean stagnation and petrification, no change, every standing still. Maybe the second moon they are standing on is like a place where the Light was successful, and that is what they try to prevent (extremes either light or dark being bad).

Even if it is just for the purpose of story(which, given many players distaste of pvp...), being able to choose which side to take would have me extremely giddy, and would throw in some real flavor in the somewhat monolithic "adventuring community" of npcs.Well, I think it is more of a foreshadowing thing. I'm at least a little hesitant to make the jump from, "...you and yours, Warrior of Darkness." to there being multiple Warriors of Darkness. Me and mine have been working on Eorzea's problems this whole game, but the Scions aren't all Warriors of Light. It's possible, but Midgardsormr made it sound like it was a pretty big deal that we were Hydaelyn's Champion (not one of Hydaelyn's champions), so I've always assumed we were the only one. Unless multiple Warriors of Darkness are needed to beat us back (very possible), the and yours might just refer to his allies, whoever they are.

I'm guessing that the Warriors of darkness will be similar to ffxi. They are similar to the "classic" warriors of light but they are their own unique individual members of a group. It would be cool for SE to start including NPCs that mention multiple warriors of light ( thereby opening the narrative bit to make it less self centered, and open up the lore a bit).
