Can't beat a MSQ as a white mage

I have to ask this again because I didn't really get any answers last time, so lets try this again.

the quest is "The Reason Roaille" and honestly it feel like this game punishes you for being a healer. if you try to do anything on your own, you will immediately get slapped in the face told to go home. But anyway I've hit a quest wall with this one and i can't seem to get past it. I start the mission kill their healer first and try to pick off the rest of the adds while giving heals to the main guy when he needs it but when they get reinforcements and I kill their healer again, by that time the rest of my team is wiped out besides me and the main guy until either me or him is killed and then duty failed. I have tried this multiple time with and without cleric stance and neither works. My item lvl is 107. I just want to get this story crap over with so I can get to the content I paid for. okay proceed to tell me how much i suck.

Um... I could do it on my legacy char, who is WHM. And got to i106 well after this one. Granted, it took a few tries, but it's definitely doable.

WHM here and I done it with little trouble. You're supposed to kite the adds to an AOE your friendly ninjas create so they can pile on the hurt. They tell you outright during the fight as well.

One thing I've noticed in these solo-duty fights is that you really shouldn't be healing the NPCs; it tends to draw unnecessary amounts of aggro to you, or causes you to not finish off one wave of enemies before the next spawns. 99% of the time you can let the NPCs heal you.These duties are designed to be done by dps and tanks, who don't really have the ability to heal, while you as a healer still have the means to do damage.

sorry for bumping this thread, but what iLvl would you recommend for attempting this quest? I'm sitting at 102 right now. the biggest upgrade I need, is the chest piece, so I'm hoping to get enough Tomestones to buy one...though with my PC being very fussy with Heavensward right now, it's tough. <.<

You're a healer so heal the NPCs and yourself. I cleared this without dying, this is harder for DPS where they cannot heal at all.

Since it's still getting bumped, I'll just say. Go to the markets and buy higher iLvl stuff. Since the early access of HW, people have easily been able to acquire unneeded HQ iLvl 115 gear, wearable by level 50's just by following the early portions of the HW main scenario.

Many people have been one-jobbing their way through and not all quests are offering rewards relevant to their class. They pick a piece of irrelevant gear over the crappy allagan gold pieces because they know they can flog them on the market. Not to mention they're craftable too. So you can expect it to take a very long time before they go out of stock or rise in price.
