Was i wrong to Q for Dusk Vigil with a 108 gear LVL ?

Okay so here is what happened... First pull the tank decides to pull the first 4, yes you heard me correctly 4 or 5 groups of mobs to aoe them down. Within 5 seconds tanks Hit points plummet to nothing and group wipes. He "lets just call him DAVE" proceeds to criticize my gear more specifically my bow which is i lvl 75... Horrible i know but real life called and barely left me with enough time to finsh the main story and lvl a few jobs to 50 pre heavensward...

"Dave" then goes on to call me a BAD player , I ask "Dave" if BAD = not having the time commitment to grind out better gear pre patch... I Could see if this was a endgame lvl raid or a even a late 57-60 lvl dungeon but its the first dam dungeon in the xpac!!!

I Could deal with dave being a Elitist A-Hole but a vote ensued and i was kicked from the group.... AFTER THE FIRST PULL Just because of my gear... I was told before i left by another member that i should not expect other to "CARRY ME " through content... WAS I IN THE WRONG? Or was i dealing with some very Elitist d-bags?

I think they were just being jerks. Also as a tank, he should be able to figure out what his party can and cannot handle and pull accordingly.

You can buy lv50 i115 weapons items in Foundation for nothing (10/20k gil)

Happens to all of us, its an online game, and like real life, there's dumb***** . Just dont pay attention to them, or even better, queue with friends or FC . Funny how its often tanks acting like that....lol

Every encounter has some expected player gear/skill level for which it is tuned. If you are vastly below that, you are just asking for the group to carry you. That's rude. Some will let it slide, others will not.

In this particular case, it's the first dungeon after expansion. At end of previous expansion I had multiple alts in the avg i125+ range. And you have an i75 weapon? What, did you never run Syrcus Tower? Soldiery or Poetic tomestones? Not to mention the expansion vendor gear. So yeah, you definitely went in with VASTLY less than the expected gear level.

while I agree on some points about being carried (you should at least have had a large portion of your gear upgreded from the quest chain in itself), based on the OP's comments you were running bard (a.k.a DPS). if the tank was dying due to large pulls you'd think the first place he would look was the healer, where he could gripe about the heals.


based on the fact that he targeted a DPS (and probably the one with the lowest gear levels) sounds more like an immature kid who just wanted to vent. So not really your fault OP, though your gear levels were the reason that the 6 yr old decided to have a tantrum on you first. Bad luck to have a bad tank, but spending a bit more time on getting the right gear would have "possibly" alleviated some of the arguement. not sure how much...It didn't sound like the tank was really looking for constructive progression at that point...

I disagree with whoever kicked you. It is difficult to consider it a carry when there are minimum requirements set so that not just anyone can join. If you had the gear to make it through to Heavensward (ilvl 100 i think), then you are fine. People forget that it is much harder to speed run in the new areas and try it anyways, sometimes ending up with massive team wipes before they realize they cannot do it as before.
