Can someone explain this collectible stuff to me?

I got the quest and the actions for making collectibles, but --

    1) what rotation do I use? The same one as crafting anything else but with the "collector's glove" action?

    2) What are all these other similar actions - when do they get added to the rotation?

    I'm so confused!

I haven't really found a "good" rotation yet, but it looks like when you're collecting you're only going to use the new abilities specifically for this. I just picked up what popped while I was doing leves. Levequests still seem to be your best way to level, I went from 51-56 in about 7 hours. You'll be looking for specific collectables to get scrips later. I wouldn't worry about it until after level 56

You can use the same rotation if you're just starting out and it will probably last you till half-way. I find both Precise Touch and Byregot's Brow inferior so I rarely bother using those and can't use them in a macro anyway since condition has to be Good or Excellent for them to be usable. I'm not sure about recipes from 56-60 but from 51-55, you don't even have to 100% the quality to get the highest collectable rating.

Honestly, right now, it would be best to level your DOW/DOM then your gathering before moving to crafting. At least this way, you can go anywhere instead of being gated by the story and mats are very expensive. Those Rainbow Cotton are expensive and you need tons of them lol.

Oops yeah I was referring to the gathering. I found that after opening flight in cwh, tdf and tcm. I was in good shape to gather there. The nodes in soc were also easily accessible, so you could get to 58 min without much of a hassle.

Simple, use your 2.0 skills, the same one you used to craft 4 star items, you'll generally get over the 2.9k minimum, and when you get better gear, you'll get it much easier. I do use the precise touch to get inner quiet up to 11 if I have spare CP

Its possible to get massive exp with large amount of collectible turn ins. Altho comparing a single turn in leves are far superior, keeping the allowance max in mind, collectibles are very invaluable for leveling.

The problem with gathering collectibles is that higher level items are much more difficult to collect. I can collect 5 pieces yellow copper on my 56 miner, but only a single piece (or two if im lucky) of chalcocite.

Sidenote: this early on in the expension dont shorten the ability names, we wont know what abilities you are talking about!

For collecting you will want to focus on using the least amount of gathering attempts possible, while obtaining the lowest requirement for the turn in. So use gp on extra attempts and boosting rarity. Once you hit the required collectibility you can collect as many times as you have gathering attemps left.

A level 51 botanist retainer can bring back 20 per hour. Its also very easy to collect with your own level 51 botanist. For higher level materials tho its indeed pretty much needed to have your own gathering classes leveled.

As for crafting collectibles: They pretty much work the same way as HQing items. But instead of a quality bar there is a collectible value bar.
In order to get max bonus rewards from a collectible it seems you only need to reach just over half the bar, which makes doing this very easy for the first few levels. You can make a macro for it as well, meaning you can massproduce them if you have the mats.

Just remember to have the Collectible Gloves buff on (I still sometimes forget). Its an out of crafting buff, meaning if you use it once it will stay on untill you disable it. No need to enable it for each new craft.

Haha this happens to me a lot too. Also, is there a way to turn off the window that pops up when you craft a collectable? It's annoying that we have to click yes after every synthesis.

Actually, from what I can see, those are place names -- Coerthas Western Highlands... something else and something else (I haven't gotten that far yet!)

I regret not levelling my gathering classes. Any tips on the fastest way to get to 50 so I can start farming these stuff?

Unfortunately there is no fast way to level gathering classes. Levequests are only a slightly faster then normal leveling.
