Change class for Heavensward?

Hey guys,

I need your opinion. I have mediocre time for playing this game unfortunately, so I really need to think of what to do with my time there. I spent lots of time pushing my WAR, i have 120 equip on it and the relic weapon. I really like the job. Now yesterday I went to Heavensward, picked up the DRK job quest and though WOW that looks pretty cool.

So here's my problem: Would you recommend changing my job to the DRK? I guess I could like it, but how long does it probably take to push it to the standard my WAR has by now? Is it worth spending time on that or should I just keep my WAR and enjoy Heavensward?

I dunno. Ideas welcome.

But as for your question, there's not much for us to say other than to try both out and see which you prefer. As for your time constraints - try getting your daily low roulette bonus on DRK which will give you nice chunks of exp (plus the challenge log bonuses, don't forget to commend people!) to help ease that.

I was PLD main in 2.x and I switched to DRK. I will not be switching back to PLD, so that should give you some indication.

Don't listen to the doom and gloom, especially from WARs. There's nothing wrong with DRK and it will do fine at end game. And to top it all off, it's fun (subjective, I know). But it's more complex and engaging than either PLD or WAR, IMO.

Tis a lot faster with the increased XP gain below level 50, so even a couple of hours should get you pretty far along to catching up. So I would give it a try at least.

Play what you like, I love the Star Globe and the way the AST skills look like, so I grabbed a AST and leveled it. Do not think to much about it, just grab what you like and play it.

Okay thank you guys. Didn't think about the increased EXP gain. That's a good point. Guess I'll just spend some hours on it and then will see if there's good progression going on and if the job is for me.

It all really depends on what you like I was a PLD till 3.0 but once I heared last year that DRK was coming and that it would use a great sword and be a tank I made my decision there to switch in the expansion and never regretted it.

But that's mainly because I was a DRK in xi and I love tanking here.

I grinded for 2 days solid (even worked on both of those days) on early access and got DRK to 50. It was a bit boring, but now that I can enjoy HW as the class I wanted I'm enjoying it much more than if I just continued on with PLD.

I'd suggest taking the class you feel is better in your opinion (not everyone elses) and either level it up or experience HW. Don't settle for a subpar experience with Warrior if you will always wonder what it would have been like playing it as a DRK.

Just a heads up, don't let the downers on the Tank board get you down and influence your decision. There are a lot of people expecting it to be the god tank when really, no one knows just how good each class is at 60.

MMO's since UO have been the genre of gaming I have spent the most time with, and MMO's really require time (most anyway). I have very limited time to play as well so I know your struggle, I instead of worry how I spend my time efficiently just make sure your enjoying the time your spending. Now I by no means a power player, and you might very well be, but I play MMOs with the intention of playing for years so for me there is no harm of setting aside my main and focusing on something new. If I get bored or find I want to play my main for the day then so be it. I know not everyone plays the same but I try not to be in a rush and play different things as the feeling hits me.

Either way gearing up jobs is not hard, you can buy ilvl115 gear from a vendor now and relic quest drops are now 25-50% increased. Leveling has never been easier. So I say give it a go and if halfway through you get burned out on DRK go back to your WAR
