I hate aether currents with a passion

I was in the dravanian forelands and must have been between 2 of the currents as my compass kept changing its mind over where it wanted to send me. Not by a little bit either, I was doing huge circles at the top left of the map not getting anywhere. I was getting really annoyed!

It will always show the direction as a straight line to the nearest aether current. If you get closer to a different current while moving towards it, it will then show that one instead, so be warned. For my part, regular checking of the maps and a little common sense are all it took to find all the aether currents so far.

I've mapped The Sea of Clouds, Coerthas Western Highlands, The Dravanian Forelands and the Churning Mists. The former was the only frustrating one since I started that one first and it was the last one I could complete

Frankly, having to collect the Aether Currents really makes me appreciate being able to fly after! The challenge makes the reward sweeter.

While I feel similarly, I also feel like the completion of aether currents occurs way too closely to the point in which you move to the next zone.
You really don't get to enjoy it until later on when you're in moogle hell.

I actually think this is very well thought out. It maintains the element of exploration during questing instead of just getting attuned asap then fly to complete the quests. For that reason I've been doing quests as they come, instead of going straight for the currents so that I can do the side quests later with a flying mount.

If you only ever level 1 job, sure, you're right.

If you ever start leveling your second job, you will be back there and you will appreciate the flying mount. It's a reward as well as a QoL improvement for your other jobs, not for your first job.

This bug exists for people who are used to "jump" the whistle motion, i.e. you time the space bar to start flying taking into account the network delay, so that you don't wait for the mount to appear. Two ways to mitigate it:

    1. Don't jump the whistle motion, let it finish and let the mount appear before you take off.
    2. Even if you jump the motion, the speed is corrected the moment you stop and move again. So a quick release-then-press on the movement key will correct its speed.

Back for what? The fates currently give terrible xp so those are a waste of time. As far as I'm aware there's no new hunting logs that I've seen. Roulletes will pretty much probably be the bulk of xp for alts. I guess its great if you're leveling a gatherer later on. Aside from that? The current design is stupid.

lol I completed Churning Mists' Aether Currents and since I was Lv56 I had to grind to get to Lv.57 for the next Main Scenario Quest ...

GOOD THING I HAD 50 MOOGLE QUESTS LEFT TO DO ^_^

But otherwise for other maps, even if you focus on completing the aether currents (meaning prioritizing the MSQ since there is ALWAYS at least one if not more MSQ rewarding Aether Currents), you will only have at most 10 side quests left to do before moving on to the next zone.

And now I hate moogles too.
