This bug exists for people who are used to "jump" the whistle motion, i.e. you time the space bar to start flying taking into account the network delay, so that you don't wait for the mount to appear. Two ways to mitigate it:

    1. Don't jump the whistle motion, let it finish and let the mount appear before you take off.
    2. Even if you jump the motion, the speed is corrected the moment you stop and move again. So a quick release-then-press on the movement key will correct its speed.
    They need to fix it.

I don't "jump" the animation, and I've had it happen to me after I've already started flying, at normal speed.

In fact, I've got video of the latter.

Don't spawn the mount until after the animation finishes if it's such a big deal. EQ2 actually got rid of it's mounting animation YEARS ago because it caused issues like this.

I like earning rewards , I've never been one to expect things to be given straight away. I just dislike this method of getting it. Its a personal thing

Personally I think the aether currents are perfectly fine hell you ran in to most of them if you quest in the area.

The most fun moment I had with this was when I just got the compass and went to sea of clouds. started using it and it pointed me somewhere (mind you at this point I had no idea on what even to expect) so I am running around at a point when using the compass I get the message "aether current is 0 yalms to the west" o_o
I dint see anything so I started searching around after 5 mins or so then I decided to look over the edge and I spot a landmass below me and then it clicked XD

I don't see how anyone could enjoy this tbh. It's menial and tedious, adds nothing to gameplay and just forces you to walk around for no reason at all. Plus it stops sidequests from being optional because you need to unlock special currents from them. Anything which forces you into completing sidequests is an instant negative.

Designing your zones to take advantage of flying and then forcing your players to walk through the zone to unlock flying is like designing a fire extinguisher that has to spit out a reservoir of gasoline before it gets to the C02.

Pretty much this. Flying should have been a tool to HELP players while questing and to make the leveling experience you know...fun...instead we literally get the complete opposite. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less from square though. They truly enjoy trolling there playerbase. I can almost hear how the meeting went down when they were designing this: "Hey guys let's add flying to the game! Now let's make it so you have to run around EVERYWHERE in the zone on foot and do almost EVERY quest before you can actually fly in it by which time you will leave it and never have a reason to come back! BWHAAHHAHAhahahahaha!"

I actually don't mind the aether current system at all. I think it was a great way to get you to explore the area and see what the devs built before allowing you to skip over it all. The only thing i would have changed is the location of a few of the currents (Dravanian Hinterlands, Y U make me run around the whole zone for 1 current because of 5 yalms z-axis? >_<)

I was surprised at the way flying works. Having to unlock 15 points on each map is a little overkill if you ask me. The main story quests I can understand, it's like they don't want you to fly yet until you progress up to a certain point in the story. I'm okay with that. But the sidequests and the little exploration mini game have felt a little annoying and quite tedious. The worst part is when your compass leads you to giant cliffs that are not accessible.

You will be able to get this later in your quest chain once you Unlock the bridge from Idyllshire.
