did the game force you to do forbidden melding? did the content designed for forbidden melding? a big NO. So it is a matter of choice. wanna push your limit? take THE RISK, is it hard to grasp?I know it's difficult for most people to think "outside of their little boxes," but for once, try to consider the possibility that things don't always work out -even when you KEEP TRYING.
Hard work and dedication doesn't always cut it...I had plenty of friends in XI who spent years, literally YEARS, trying to get -1 cursed pieces for their main jobs, and never got it. I knew plenty of others who always crafted on the right days, and only during the best moon phases. They had all the applicable HQ gear available to them for crafting; and they made consistent, consecutive attempts with all sorts of HQ gear, and a lot of them ended up dumping hundreds of mil into the same items that took other people 5-10 mil, and a couple of days.
And by the time they actually made the gear themselves, they could have probably bought 2-3 pieces of the HQ set. How is that fair? How is that considered a reward for hard work? Finding ways to keep people from exploiting aspects of the game that give them an unfair advantage is a way to "motivate" people into working hard -like making it where you get 0 exp on your job if you have someone more than 10 lvls above you in your party for example. Forcing handfuls of people to dedicate more time and effort into the SAME exact thing to reap the SAME exact benefit is absurd.
YOU dont have to CREATE the +2/3 melded gear, you can buy it.
Aion Zwei - Masamune
So a thought on this system
BEFORE the patch and when we saw the actual materia, i thought it may be a bit harsh to have the fail rate the way it is, now i understand why there was one, but lets be honest
who here thought tier 4 materia would give +16 stats....
who thought they would give 4 stats at tier 4 instead?
lets face it, we all thought itd give a low ammount per materia
but now the system is in
after seeing +16 stats on a materia, in no way shape or form should anyone ever "need" to have more then 1 materia on their gear
doing so REQUIRES a very harsh penalty and fail rate for doing so otherwise gear becomes way too powerufl way to quick
and stating its a competition in any way or that "well this player has XXX advantage cuz they can do it more" aint a good excuse to say its a bad system
compare how YOU will do vs stuff with a full set of 1 materia per item.
you will be powerful
now lets look at 2 materia per item(shouldnt be too hard to do, very little trial and error)
now your overpowered already
anything past that and its just wrong....and you deserve the fail rates you get to get there
