Dissipate overpowered?

I think that the other abilities are great; I use all of them at some point in every run. The only one I've pretty much given up on is Dissipation.

Agree with this. Indomitability is simply brutal...you make fun of WHMs and their burst AOE heals :P. Emergency tactics is ok, I often use it with Succor (and sometimes swiftcast) when people receive a large chunk of AOE damage and need to be topped. Deployment tactics is pretty useless on 4 man dungeons, but I feel it's going to be an extremely useful weapon in Alexander. Broil gives us that single target burst we lacked with Ruin (and further improves our overall DMG by a wide margin, which was pretty high on the first place).

The only 2 things I'm not happy about the SCH in Heavensward are: Dissipation and complete lack of accuracy in healing gear (which makes a spell I was very excited about -Broil- almost useless in the content that matters); though the second one does not only affect the SCH.

I've only used it accidentally when using a new hotbar set-up... It's now not on my hotbar.

I stumbled upon this thread when I Googled dissipation and it's utter failures.... Almost a year into the expansion and still hoping they will do something about this skill

Personally, I use it during jump/downtimes in fights.

i.e. in seph Ex right after adds, I'll use all my e-drains to top up my MP, use dissipate, use the boost on adlo as I spam adlo the warrior with defiance hoping for a crit(good thing I topped up my mp!), deploy, place shadowflare before he is targetable, use swiftcast to get back my fairy and boom - Now i have 3-edrains and an aetherflow off cd to max DPS

There are situations where Lustrate/Indom is the only way to keep the boat from sinking and you know you will need more stacks. A lot of people talk about predictive vs reactive. If I am sitting at 0 stacks, there are some situations where I know I am going to need them.

That said, I haven't touched that ability since the days of Fractal and Neverreap. I would rather they adjusted it or changed it. The idea someone floated earlier about making it like Enkindle instead sounds pretty cool.

I think it would go a long way if they made it so your next summon was either 0 MP or instant cast

In theory and paper, it's not a terrible ability. From a healing standpoint, 30s of Fairy loss results in a loss of 2000 potency of free healing. SCH can easily make that up if all three stacks are used for Lustrate + 5 Physicks or 1 Indominitability (in a two-tank scenario) and 2 Lustrates. Anything you get past that is icing on the fairy loss. Of course there's the cost resummoning the fairy and the potential loss of Swiftcast or even more potency loss due to hard casting fairy.

From a DPS perspective, assuming 100% accuracy, you pretty much regain the MP loss with two Energy Drains while still giving you another 884 MP if you use all three stacks for Energy Drain at the cost of 2,000 potency in healing and your Swiftcast (or more potency if hard casting). This gives you an additional 450 potency of damage to work with.

It's a good DPS tool, especially if you know your healing partner can handle the extra load. On the healer front, however, it's not that great due to excessive situationalness of it. The only time I've used Dissipation to any great effect is in the final wave of A2S where the out going damage can be incredible in the initial barrage and it becomes much more manageable and reasonable after the 30s have passed.

With Dissipation, you're pretty much looking for a fight that has high spike damage up time for a moderate period of time that tapers off into something more manageable since you have a full 30s of boosted healing and the three stacks for more healing. That circumstance is an exceedingly rare circumstance. I haven't looked hard into the current Savage raid tier but the only time this ability seems useful (from what I've seen) is duing the ADS-style enrage Brute Justice goes through in the last 39% since you're much better off using AoE heals at that point (where Dissipation's 20%+ healing shines) than letting the fairy slowly do 200 potency every 3 seconds.

Agreed, though even then sometimes those 3 extra stacks can provide some super burst heals if something went wrong.

It's a pretty lame ability but it's saved my ass enough times for me to stop complaining about it. It does have some very good situational uses.

450 potency damage boost (more with bane) and helps you ration MP in case you are recovering after a double or triple resurrection (using lustrate instead of adlo saves you 1k MP, using indom instead of succor saves you 1.3k MP.) It's also amore noticeable buff towards aoe healing with succor. Works great for fights like sephy that have add phases followed by a long animation to resummon.

When level synced I miss the skill terribly.
