This just isnt true though. Progression requires a far tighter usage of the entire healer toolkit. During progression you need to virus/disable those big hits when you arent well geared. Farming it really doesnt matter.

Take t13 ahk morns for example. Progression required scholar imput to heal tanks through it, farming required no scholar imput at all to deal with them.

There is a distinct difference in healing between progression based raiding and farming based raiding. Even sephirot ex when progressing required more imput from both healers than when farming it.

Got hystorical 99% on fflogs, used dissipation 3 times in a7s, hell would even think of using it a fourth time. Dissipation can be planned accordingly and will yield alot of dps if used correctly, as well allowing you to swap fairy without eating your mana. Also consider adlo spreads during that timeframe. If you are not new to this fight and plan this corrrectly it has only upsides.

I don't usually feel I need to reply to criticism of Dissipation when they haven't experienced current extreme content. when the content isn't overgeared, and Midas Savage to know why we would do such things. But this is a healing forum where people can share their advices and experiences, and I'm sure more people want to hear why this skill is really good in some situations from those who use it regularly in their regimen and progression/farming content. Maybe if I explain more of the background how I got to this point that will further help those understand where my mindset comes from.

Even before 3.0, Scholars could strategize when to use Swiftcast to change fairies for certain phases. That is why every time someone says "but Swiftcast..." I'm like this shouldn't be anything new that end-game Scholars hadn't thought about before, did this person ever hot fairy swap before this skill existed?

So you have to get over the "but someone will die" mentality, even some White Mages then and still to this day have this problem so they would never Swiftcast+Medica II when it might have been strategic for them to do so because of movement. There is another healer in progression raiding, the likelyhood that both burned a Swift in the cooldown time isn't high. Do you have a Summoner? It this a PuG of people I dont know or a linkshell static that I can trust isn't likely to make the greatest mistake of their lives soon?

Back in Turn 13, I would usually start the fight with Selene to help DPS push. But in the second phase I would swift-swap to Eos to help the White Mage from having to use their regens because of the adds. Now with Dissipation you have an added utility if you feel it's okay to have 30s of downtime with additional stacks and manual heal utility before you swift your fairy change. So you can see how the skill fits almost like a glove for those whom probably already strategized hot swapping.

As for the Seph Ex example, I don't even use Eos at all, unless your main healer isn't worth their salt. (Last phase during progression, Eos can be useful though). The last Fey Wind is out before I dissipate, so aside from embrace and a free warrior pacify cleanse there really isn't any embrace need. The higher potency heal/shields is extremely nice for the add burn damage, you'll save your main healer's MP a bit there. So don't forget your "cost" may also benefit the main healer.

There is so much downtime after the add phase that any argument about MP/Swift costs to re-summon the fairy is rather moot. You'll recover so quick. The whole time you are doing colors/towers is just free DPS time for both healers. You are usually using it during a time where it's strategic and there is downtime to recover or the cost, or it is not an issue compared to the situation at-hand. I only cited one example where all three of Dissipation's benefits actually come into play, and there any many others. That is not to say it's a textbook, or you have to do it, but you can certainly feel Dissipation's benefits if you make the criteria work.
