It's both in OP's case... Old MBP and Mac's OS being complete cumbersome to develop on. But hey it doesn't viruses and you don't have to upgrade because apple stays behind PC tech because no hardware company develops for them.

Your argument holds not water. I've been arguing with ignorant people like yourself all day, but I am always up for another round, because you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Apple uses Intel processors. In fact, the machine I am writing this post on is an Intel I7. My video card is an Nvidia GeForce GTX750M. You might say that's card for laptops, and while I might agree, I'd also point out it has 4 Gb VRAM on it, and it's rated at 120 FPS for FFIXV. In fact, I've played FFXIV on in since the 1 year anniversary, and I have had no issues. The hardware in this machine is more than capable of handling a 2 year old game.
As for cumbersome, OS X uses OpenGL, which is the same graphics API that the PS3 and PS4 use; Crystal Tool already targets it. Macs are not some foreign entity at Square. Look at the Apple App Store, the company has plenty of games there, and by extension, has deep Metal experience, which is what OS X is going to switch to in El Capitan. But hey, continue trying to make the case they're cumbersome! Oh wait, where are you entries on either the Mac Store or the App Store?

I wasn't arguing with you, and the OP's laptop is old... don't take things so personally. Your points are quite interesting though, a mobile app is nothing compared to getting high-end tech like graphics cards to work with native software. OS X is a very cumbersome environment to develop and optimize on for multiple systems that will be running at the same time, client side AND server side. Yes tech can be the same on your system not everyone's, and while tech is great it needs software to work. As for Square being comfortable with Apple, I have no idea and I doubt you do either. You go ahead and keep being insulted by "ignorant" people such as I.
I'm going to enjoy the game!
I was not even replying to any post you've made in this thread.

And I'm going to stop you right there. Nvidia didn't MAKE a GTX 750m. GT 750m yes. GTX? Nope. Also, your proof that the so called GTX /airquotes is rated 120 FPS on FFXIV? LOL That I have to see. For one, the GT 750m didn't even EXIST at the 1 year mark ( the date you're stating you have been running this "GTX 750" since) until 2013. So unless you're talking about the ARR 1 year release, this card didn't even exist during the 1.0 1 year. Well, technically, the card you're talking about doesn't exist at all anyway soo ... but yeah. SS or it didn't happen with a GT 750m since the only few games it scores that high on FPS, and I can prove it, is games like Sims 4 on LOW settings. You won't get 120 FPS on the max settings.
