Different versions of Collector's Edition for PC

Hi,

today DHL know to my door and give me a box.
In that box i found my collector's edition of FFXIV Heavensward.
I'm so happy it arrived in the exactly day of the lunch but, after i've open it i think there is an error...

From the video on youtube (here the link Collector Edition Preview) where the producer show to all the collector's edition, all we see that image :




But the box i received is quite different :



What happen to the box ? What happened to the box with an opening to the half of it and let show us the dragon's action figure?

From what I heard from other people, the Box he showed was the Japanese Version of the CE edition, the boxes for the other regions cant turn into a display case, which is a major disappointment.

The running theory is that there was a "Premium CE" version only available to JP, and that what we got is a "Standard CE".

I'm right there with you. Forked over 130+ bucks the second it was released (did same thing for vanilla FFXIV as well, for that matter) and I'm just disappointed. What we got doesn't seem worth the additional price tag. If this is what we can expect from SE, I'll stick to digital CEs. When I saw the price I was expecting something on par with the Skyrim CE. Not so much.

And is that a pic of the Install disc you received? Because I got one that was quite different. My jewel case is black, the cover art isn't the same, and there is no artwork on the inside of the inlay. What region are you in?

Your first picture is also of the PS4 version, not the PC. I'm not sure if that's how the PS4 version actually turned out, just pointing out that it's not the PC case being displayed.

No, there is a PC version in that pic as well. He has the normal edition out, then the ps4, then on the table closest to us a PC version which is different than the one we got here in the US. you can see the "for Windows" branding on the upper left corner.

though I will agree that the Ps4 version directly in front of him looks like the nicest of the lot.

Also the BD Movie disc still in the cardboard sleeve ! No special pack for it.

My box was a bit bented, the dragon feet don't even match the little "rocks" on the stand, and the middle pages of the book are almost coming off.
I'm a bit disappointed

I would like to ask to replace the book at least but I already know that it would be a waste of time.

I didn't get the physical CE for 3.0 as it didn't excite me as much as 2.0 did. That being said, what is Square's reasoning in changing the box? It seems like such a hostile thing to do. Were they expecting us not to care? I would really like to know their logic behind all of this.

It's not a change. These were marketed to different audiences. The unboxing shown here is for the Japanese region. It was mentioned when this was first shown that Japanese buyers were getting a display box.

Haven't heard many good things about the physical CE, glad I cancelled it and went with just the digital CE.
