I think the real interruption for me is the chat box. I can't hide it again after I reply my friend.

Right click on the tab name (sure works with General, anyway) and the pop-up menu has the "Hide chat window" or whatever option. Mind you, it'll remain hidden even after the cutscene - press enter to display it again. (Sorry, no idea of controller equivalents as I've been playing with keyboard+mouse since launch, but it probably works the same if you know how to do it?)

Out of curiosity, why do you think the announcements are for console players in particular? We can check prices / sells of our items just fine and check our retainers just as easy. As a console player myself I rarely pay attention to the messages.

FINALLYIn Patch 3.1 we’re implementing a change that will stop messages, such as retainer venture announcements and market board sales, from displaying during cutscenes. Soon you’ll be able to sit back and be fully immersed in cutscenes without being interrupted by your pesky retainers.
I had venture messages interrupt my Eternal Bond cutscenes. You know. The ones I cannot replay ever, and would have to redo all over again if I wanted to record it (which I thankfully did) without annoyances like that?
Also, please make sure people leaving the party, light / full party messages, and also the fanfare from obtaining loot -- all those sounds have to be muted too. Let me discover what happened when the cutscene is DONE.
Well, different case for me. I was watching the final cutscene of heavensward and then bing! my friend sent me /tell, and he kept sending me /tell, bing, bing, bing, bing! I don't wanna open it because I don't know how to close it again.
He ruined it... >.<

View the cs uninterrupted again by putting /busy on, then head to nearest town with inn, checkinto room and view whichever cs you want again by selecting it on replayer in room.
I remember watching my friends stream their Eternal Bond Ceremony when it first came out and their retainer was selling crap left, right, and center. A lot of people were giving them crap about it, it was kind of funny.
But when I had my EB ceremony, I made sure neither of my retainers were on ventures nor selling anything and I turned all chat noises off. >.< They really do ruin a cutscene.

I've had those messages ruin perfectly good screen shots I'd take during the cutscenes. And I don't know it until I am done playing and I go looking at the screen shot.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.

While we're at it, when you're in a cutscene and you bring the chat windows and then you right click on them to try to hide them that right click advances the current dialog. Can it please be changed so that it doesn't advance?
