In the new specs, the MacBook Pro line doesn't even include a baseline date (e.g. "Mid 2014") or specify a minimum for the graphics card:

    Hardware
21.5-inch iMac (Mid 2014) with Intel Iris Pro Graphics or higher
MacBook Pro 15 inch with Retina display or higher

I was thinking the same exact thing but went to look up these computer specs. It looks like the MBP Retina 15" has always had at least a GeForce GT 650M or Iris Pro and pretty much the other specs.

The mid-2014 iMac is a mystery though. The mid-2014 model came with a Intel HD Graphics 5000 and 1.4 GHz i5 that turboboosts to 2.6 GHz.

Anyhow, would be nice of them to come out and let us know what the roadmap for improvements looks like.

This is such a disrespectful thing to do (SE), those specs were made avilable today for that post, way after the release and pre-order of the game itself, besides, i have an iMac with better specs than those (mid 2014 aswell, but the full iMac version) and the game still has many flaws, there are places with really low FPS and graphical glitches all over the place (when i teleport from one place to another, its gets lots of glitches, its really annoying).

SE, this is a really disrespectful thing to do to YOUR CLIENTS.

Definitely, this post is probably the worst response SE could do. It doesn't solve anything, it doesn't acknowledge the issues, and it throws the blame back at us for not having the right hardware, which wasn't even listed at the time the client was announced. I can only speculate there is some back and forth going with Transgaming.

    "Dear KrelianJudah,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Online Store Support.

By the power the Moogle King has bestowed on me, I've gone ahead and cancelled this order. You should be receiving another separate (less awesome) mail, informing you about this.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate contacting me.

    Best,
    Henry

The Square Enix Online Store Team"

While my iMac might not have the latest and greatest card with its GTX 680MX, it should still do better than my rMBP with an Iris Pro. Alas they run about the same, and it seems the iMac runs even worse from time to time and that with a slight lower resolution. Feels like they tested it on a device with the minimum specifications and hoped it would work splendidly on other hardwares.

You must provide a valid Order ID or the email address you used for the purchase. Please retry here.

I've tried with both my order ID and with the email address I used to make the purchase. I can't believe SE thinks it's okay to treat (new!) customers this way....

I have two other family members who are on the Mac and would love to play this, bootcamping for them is not an option. My iMac runs WoW on ultra at better than 60 fps. FFXIV runs on my bootcamp at 45 to 50 fps, very smooth, very playable. On this Wine port, no matter what the settings i get 19 to 24 fps. This is a 27 inch iMac and i have seen the problem where you go for the native 2560x1440 resolution of the screen and the client appears in only the top half. I was able to get around this by setting the configuration to Full Screen and that resolution. Applying it, force quitting it and on the relaunch it retained the higher res. YMMV.

The client is barely playable and tends to self corrupt over time. Its kind of heartbreaking how you get used to the lower fps, only to have it garble all the names in the Inn when you get there. So you restart the client and it works again for a little while, then glitches out when you teleport. Its kind of like it forgot how to render in mid teleport. I was shocked to read that people are getting better performance out of Parallels. I will try that I guess.

But really Shame on Square-Enix for not doing any of their own testing, its so crazy obvious that no one did... Can you imagine, maybe it was like the Emperors New clothes, no one at any checkpoint had the courage to say that this client is krap. They kept ok-ing it all the way up the line and this is what got released.

Does anyone think this can be fixed?

I'm hoping Yoshi-P will appear, wave his hands, make us have a "Mac Client Reborn", and maybe give us all fancy tattoos in the process. In the meantime, though, I kind of just want a refund so I can purchase the WORKING client.

Anyone on this thread that can read the JP forums - is there an outcry there as well?
